    Ep. 8: All in on a Silly Thing with Allyssa Yohana

    This week, we're joined by artist/cartoonist/friend Allyssa Yohana, who assigns us their "All in on a Silly Thing" exercise: a framework for giving oneself permission to commit to a pursuit that feels  silly, embarrassing, or frivolous. We go deep (prepare to hear the word "deeply" a lot) on what it means to lower the stakes for creative production. This week's practice: Choose a silly thing to throw all your weight behind. Draw faces on all your bananas. Put googly eyes on 100 pompoms. Write some fan fiction! Whatever you do, really do it. See where it takes you. Allyssa Yohana is an artist and visual storyteller currently spending time in a tiny New England town working on projects in visual storytelling for children and young adults. They studied photography and video at SVA.     In this episode, we're joined by artist Lily Moebes, who introduces us to her system of Studio Debriefs – a practice for documenting sessions of creative work. This week's practice: Debrief your creative practice at the end of each day. Lily Moebes is a Brooklyn-based artist working in textiles, printmaking, and painting. She has been a resident artist at organizations including the Textile Arts Center, Museum of Art and Design, Drop Forge and Tool, and has had her work featured in exhibitions in New York City, DC, and San Francisco.
