Israel, the Law, and Grace (pt.1)

We know we're saved by grace through faith in the New Covenant. At the same time, most of us have understood the "Old Covenant" to be a covenant of works. Marty Shoub joins us today to unpack how God has always dealt with mankind through grace, even with Israel under the Mosaic Law. Marty Shoub is the Canadian Director of Tikkun Ministries Canada, where he serves the elders and congregations within the Tikkun Ministries Canada network as an overseer and advisor. He also is the co-leader of Kehilat Tsion (Vancouver's first Messianic Jewish Synagogue), an academic advisor for the Canadian Graduate School of Ministry, and a director of Return Ministries. Marty graduated with a BA honours in theology from Briercrest College and a Master of Jewish Studies from the Messianic Jewish Theological Institute. Marty has authored three books: To the Jew First: The Formation of One New Man, I Have Installed My King, and Return to Me. Marty has been married to his wife, Sue, for over 40 years, and have three children and four grandchildren. Chapters: 1:07 - Introduction 10:36 - Exploring the Covenants 11:52 - Covenant Theology or Dispensationalism...? 28:12 - Starting with Abraham 37:19 - Expectations and Consequences 40:05 - Representing God 43:22 - What is the Ultimate Consequence for Israel in the Law? 47:13 - Rejection was Never on the Table For free prayer resources, information on upcoming events, or to join the Canopy of Prayer, visit us at http://www.nhop.ca.

    Media Bias & Youth Hopelessness

Meet our special guest for this episode: journalist Elie Cantin-Nantel, founder of EMCN Media. Elie joins us today to talk about two themes we have touched on as prayer focuses in the past couple of years: biases in media coverage, and the growing sense of hopelessness emerging in Gen Z and Gen Alpha. But we're not talking about them to complain, we're getting to the questions of "what can we do?" and "how should we pray?" Join us for this insightful and purposeful conversation! Track with Elie!
