    In Episode 25 of the Princeton Podcast, Mayor Mark Freda sat down with Michael Russell, President of the Princeton Battlefield Society, a national non-profit organization that works to acquire, protect, preserve, and restore the lands and cultural landscape related to the Battle of Princeton of 1777.
     
    In addition to Princeton Battlefield Society’s work in preserving and improving Princeton Battlefield State Park, Mike described the importance of educating the public about the historical significance of the Battle of Princeton and what is called the Ten Crucial Days, in turning the tide in the outcome of the American Revolution.
     
    Mike also discussed Princeton Battlefield Society events, including the annual reenactment of the Battle of Princeton that features 100+ reenactors with cannons and muskets presented each January at Princeton Battlefield State Park.

    Shirley’s early career as a teacher and later as a guidance counselor in Princeton area schools, her extensive accomplishments in preserving and sharing the history of Princeton’s African American Community, and her life history of devotion, education, and historical preservation are impressive.

    The Eating for Your Health staff works with a variety of community partners including Princeton-area schools, adult communities, faith-based and civic-based organizations, businesses and other local nonprofits - to deliver programs about healthy food and nutrition in an easy to consume and non-judgmental manner.

    Through strategic land conservation and stewardship, Linda discussed how D&R Greenway Land Trust has permanently protected 22,000 acres of land since its founding in 1989, preserving land for farms and community gardens, preserving land to protect wildlife and create public trails, preserving land to help combat climate change and ensure clean drinking water for future generations.
    Linda also discussed the D&R Greenway Johnson Education Center in Princeton, host to  art galleries and presentations that celebrate the natural world and inspire a conservation ethic.
