  1. Going Part of the Way Is Not the Same As Going the Wrong Way

Going Part of the Way Is Not the Same As Going the Wrong Way

Going part of the way is not the same as going the wrong Jostein Gardner wrote a beautiful book called Sophie's in which a young girl learns the history of philosophy. ⁓ The philosopher eventually gives Sophie that quote when describing how St. Aquinas thought of Aristotle's partial understanding and agreement with the Christian doctrine. Aquinas said that Aristotle got part of the way there, but not all the way to the Christian revelation. Now that is a small moment in a wonderful book which I cannot recommend enough either to your precocious high-level reading 12 year old or you're constantly searching and seeking 44 year old very happy birthday to me. Most of the people I know best are not truly content with their lives. The people in my circle tend to be happy, motivated, fulfilled in their work and their day-to-day existence, but still reaching for something more. Ambitious is a word, but frankly, that seems to imply a little bit more greed than what I mean. how about part of the way? And as we've learned now from St. Aquinas and Aristotle, from Sophie and the philosopher, and Justine Gardner. going only part of the way is not the same as going the wrong way. Birthdays tend to make me a little reflective, and my guess is that I'm not alone in that. As you spend around the sun for your next trip, you may find yourself more focused on what you've yet to accomplish than what you have. just want you to save this video and remind yourself that part of the way is not the wrong way. If I woke up today and got part of the way toward my weight loss goal and then got part of the way there tomorrow and part of the way the day after suddenly I'd be there in the unending progress of days. and much sooner than you might imagine after the first or the fifth or the fiftieth. Big things have small beginnings, and the journey of a thousand miles starts with that one small step. If your resolution for 2025 was to build a deep and passionate marriage where yours had gone stale and you're not lighting any fireworks yet but you are talking more than you're yelling, then you didn't go the wrong way this year. you meant to start a business and what you've done is redraft and scrap and rebuild the business plan more times than you'd like to admit even to your mastermind group then you didn't go the wrong way this year. If you wanted to become a household name in your industry and establish yourself as the go-to for your field, but what you did was start a YouTube channel and buy a nice microphone. Well, you didn't go the wrong way this year. Progress is just that, progressive. Make some today, add what you can tomorrow, give yourself grace when what you can do is nothing at all, and don't give up when you look up and realize you're still not there yet. Going part of the way is not the same as going the wrong way. You just have to keep going. If honing and sharing your message to the world is part of your resolutions for 2025, well, you haven't gone the wrong way yet. I've got a course starting November right now you've still got access to the early bird special prices. JoelSharpton.com for the details or you can find the link below this post. 3. What's YOUR Message?

    09/11/2025

    What's YOUR Message?

I cannot tell you the number of clients that have asked me, is it true that most podcasts don't make it past episode seven? It's absolutely true. The vast majority of podcasts don't ever reach seven episodes Why is The fact of the matter is that most podcasters don't know what they're talking about. I don't mean that they are not expert in their own field or in the hobby or the industry or the passion project that they are discussing in their podcast. What I mean when I say most podcasters and not just podcasters, but content creators, period, people who make Instagram reels and TikToks, most of them don't know what they're talking about. What I mean is they don't know what their message is. As a content creator, the absolute first thing you have to understand is What is it about you that is charismatic, and consistent? On your best day, there's no telling what you might be able to give a great speech about. But if you're going to be a content creator, you have to know what you can speak about anytime, anywhere, under any circumstances, and with any boundaries or confinements. What topic could you give me a meaningful nugget of information about in a minute? What topic could you talk to me about for an hour without repeating yourself? For most of us, there's at least one topic that we could answer both of those with. That's your message. As a business owner, your podcast or your content doesn't have to focus on the industry or the products or the services that you sell. The point in this entire experiment is to become visible to your clients, customers, and the community at large. People gotta know who you are, what you do, and why they would want to work with you. Or maybe that they wouldn't want to work with you at all. In my course starting November 1st, we're going to teach you not only the tools that you'll need to capture your message and deliver it to the internet, but what that message is in the first place. We're going to help you explore who you are, what you do, and why people should give a damn. We're going to turn a few followers into fans, and we're gonna turn your following into funds. Six weeks with business owners, entrepreneurs, and brand representatives just like you looking to craft and refine their message. Join us, won't you? November 1st is the first class. We're gonna do weekly video calls to sound out your problems, the issues you're facing, and how we can overcome them together. We're building a great community, and I want you to be a part of it. Seats are limited, though, so follow the link below or sign up right now at JoelSharpton.com/#mypodcast The course lessons are asynchronous, meaning you can watch them anytime and they’ll drop weekly starting November 1st. BUT, the video calls will not be scheduled until I have a class full and I can take YOUR temperature on when YOU want to get together. I want the most people to be able to attend every week. The Amazing Upgrade to Your Webcam (That You Already Own, But Didn't Know It)

Here we are, as I promised, LESS than weekly since my first post on this new blog discussing the how’s, the why’s and the “what’s that now”’s of podcasting. This tip though, if you’re not already using, you’re going to be so glad to learn so, you’re welcome and if the video and these links don’t make much sense to you, then feel free to email me about it & I’ll help you start using this MUCH better camera that won’t mean a discussion with your accountant.Your smartphone (whether Android or iPhone) has a pretty amazing back camera (unless it’s VERY old) and the smarts to process those lenses in a way that’s really pleasing to the eye. Features like “portrait mode” or “studio lighting” can be accessed and turned up or down while using your phone as your WEBCAM! I’m willing to bet that even if you’ve got a great webcam shooting 1080p right now, your phone would be an improvement (when using the back camera, not the selfie lens). Watch the video to get the details, and then check out the links below.Let me know if you’re already using your phone as a camera, or if you owe me a frosty beverage the next time we’re together! The Power of a Magical Experience

Do you know what is worth a lot of money and time as it turns out? Childlike joy and wonderment. I don't know about you, but I am always buying it. I'm always listening to, of course, Joel Sharpton here, Pro Podcasting Services. I'm an editor, consultant, podcaster, video creator. And right now I'm talking to you about my experience last Wednesday night, staying up too late to pre-order the Nintendo Switch 2. I wanna go back in time with you first though. It's 1988 and Nintendo brings out the action set. It included the console itself, the NES, the Nintendo Entertainment System. It also included one cartridge with two games, Super Mario Brothers and Duck Hunt. And it included the Zapper to play that Duck Hunt game with and two controllers so that both you and a friend could enjoy not only Mario Brothers, but also if you plugged a controller into the second input for Duck Hunt, you could control the duck while the other player shot at it. I'm telling you, I am a Nintendo fanboy from back in the day. It was my seventh birthday when I got that action set. cost $109 in 1988 bucks, which is quite a few in 2025 dollars. I don't think ⁓ inflation rounds it all the way up to the $499 that I had to pay for the bundle of Nintendo Switch 2 and Mario Kart World, but it's worth every dime regardless. I've been there for all of them. I got the Super Nintendo Entertainment System for Christmas a couple of years after 1988. I got the Game Boy one year for my birthday. I got money one year for my birthday and I bought the Virtual Boy. Yes, I was one of the five that bought it. I liked the Virtual Boy. Thank you very much, although it did give me headaches. I had the N64, I had the GameCube, I had the Wii, I had the Wii U, I had the original Switch, I had the, I didn't have the DS, I did have the DS Lite, I'd never had the 3DS, although both my sons owned both a 3DS and a 2DS at different times. I'm a Nintendo kid, and I bet you might be too. The reason why Nintendo still in 2025 is worth all of this fuss and all of this money, even though to be very honest with you, I don't have very much time to play video games, is because they still inspire for me a childlike sense of nostalgia and wonder. I am in awe any time I play a Mario game. It's the same way I feel when I step on the property at Disney World. And the reason is because Disney as a corporation and company also understand this idea of the magical experience. There are other theme parks than Disney World or Disneyland. Universal arguably does thrill rides better than Disney does. There are other consoles than Nintendo's. I even own one. I got an Xbox Series X in my living room right now because I've got teenage boys and even my girls were interested in some games that the last Nintendo system just didn't have. And yet, here I am excited again about Mario and Donkey Kong and Kirby and Zelda and even upgrades of previous versions of games that Nintendo is gonna offer me on the Switch 2. Why? Because of the magical experience that they provide. I don't know what your business is. I don't know whether you're in content creation or not, but if you're serving any product or service, Try to create a magical experience for your customers. For me, it meant here I am at 43 staying up until after midnight to get a new Nintendo. This is a public episode.
