034: A Conversation with Rebecca Winman, From Cardio and Diet Culture to Strength and Bodybuilding

Send us Fan Mail In this episode of PROCAST BY JOSH, I sit down with Rebecca Winman, a mum and former client of over 3 years, to share her journey through training, nutrition, and mindset, and how it has completely evolved over time. Rebecca’s story is one that so many people will relate to. Growing up surrounded by diet culture, with the belief that carbs were bad and that more cardio was always the answer, she spent years stuck in a cycle of restriction, inconsistency, and a poor relationship with food. Training was based around cardio and HIIT, with the goal of simply being smaller, rather than truly understanding how to shape the body, fuel it properly, and build something long term. In this conversation, we talk through the shift that changed everything. Being introduced to resistance training, influenced by those around her, and beginning to see training and nutrition in a completely different way. We dive into her journey as a mum balancing lifestyle, training, and nutrition, and how structure, consistency, and education allowed her to completely transform not just her physique, but her mindset and habits. We also explore her move into bodybuilding, what she learnt through competing, the importance of reverse dieting, and how her understanding of food, training, and her body has continued to evolve. Key themes in this episode include  • breaking away from diet culture and poor relationships with food  • transitioning from cardio based training to resistance training  • the role of education and structure in long term progress  • balancing motherhood with health and fitness goals  • competing and what it teaches you about yourself  • building sustainable habits and a stronger mindset Rebecca’s journey is a powerful reminder that real change comes from understanding, consistency, and a willingness to do things differently. 033: Momentum, Restarting, and Staying on Track

Send us Fan Mail In this episode of PROCAST BY JOSH, we build on last week’s conversation and dive deeper into one of the biggest reasons people feel stuck in their health, fitness, and lifestyle journey, constantly restarting. Most people don’t struggle to start.  They struggle to maintain momentum when things don’t go to plan. In this episode, we unpack what momentum really is, how it actually looks in real life, and why so many people lose it the moment their routine is disrupted by things like busy schedules, social events, or changes in structure. We also explore the common mindset of “I need to get back on track,” and why this way of thinking often does more harm than good, creating an all or nothing approach that disconnects you from the progress you have already made. Key topics include  • what momentum really means and why it does not require perfection  • why disruptions in routine are not the problem  • how black and white thinking leads to restarting  • the importance of zooming out and looking at long term progress  • how basic habits create continuity when life feels out of control  • why your progress does not reset just because your week looks different At the core of this episode is a simple message  you do not need to restart, you need to continue. Momentum builds more momentum, and once you have it, the goal is to protect it. If this episode resonated with you, please share it with someone in your circle who might need this message right now. 032: Overthinking, Self Judgement, and the First Rep Back

Send us Fan Mail After a long break, PROCAST BY JOSH is finally back, and this felt like the perfect conversation to kick off the next chapter. In this short solo episode, I open up about why I delayed bringing the podcast back, how overthinking can keep us stuck, and why some of the biggest breakthroughs in life, health, and business come from simply taking the first rep before you feel fully ready. A major part of this conversation is the 4 main ways we get in our own way, something I see not only in myself but in coaching conversations with clients all the time: • expecting confidence before action • turning standards into perfection • frustrating ourselves by skipping the process • making early mistakes mean too much At the heart of it all, this episode is about what it really means to be PRO in your own world. Showing up with intention, holding yourself to a higher standard through consistency, and learning to trust action over overthinking. A short, honest, and powerful first rep back. I hope it helps you take yours. If this episode resonated with you, please share it with someone in your circle who might need this message right now. And if you’re enjoying the return of PROCAST BY JOSH, a quick rating or review on Spotify and Apple Podcasts goes a long way in helping us reach more people and continue building a community of people committed to becoming PRO in their own world. 030: A Conversation with Mel Green, Success is not Given, its Earnt.

Send us Fan Mail In this episode of "PROCAST BY JOSH," we sit down with Mel Green to explore her fascinating journey into bodybuilding and how she became a top bikini athlete. Mel shares the story of how she first got into competing, her rapid rise to success with her first pro card and multiple podium finishes, and the challenges she faced along the way. As with many successful journeys, obstacles inevitably arise, and Mel's journey is no different. After a string of back-to-back competition seasons, Mel experienced extreme burnout—something that can happen when you’re pushing yourself at full throttle. But instead of letting burnout define her path, Mel made the tough decision to physically remove herself from the environment, which ultimately turned out to be the best move for her both physically and mentally. This decision allowed her to continue her journey as an athlete and achieve even greater success in the years that followed. We discuss the reality that obstacles will always be a part of anyone’s journey. Success doesn’t come easily, and as Mel shares, you can only be successful for so long before you are tested. It’s not about avoiding obstacles; it’s about how you overcome them. Mel’s story is a powerful example of resilience and the importance of taking a step back when necessary to regain focus and purpose. Beyond her competitive success, Mel took a huge step in early 2024 by leaving her corporate job to fully dedicate herself to her passion: coaching others. Now, as a coach, she helps individuals not only with their competition preparation but with their overall lifestyle and personal growth. She is committed to helping others be their best, whether on the stage or in everyday life. This episode highlights a key lesson: success is never given, it’s earned. Even when you have a strong foundation, it’s up to you to continually show up, seek guidance, mentorship, and surround yourself with a supportive environment that will help you grow. Mel’s relentless commitment to improvement and her ability to evolve in the face of challenges have earned her multiple pro cards across different federations, and she continues to set the standard for her clients and others in the bodybuilding community. Tune in to this enlightening episode and be inspired by Mel Green’s story of perseverance, growth, and success in the world of bodybuilding and coaching. Send us Fan Mail In this powerful episode of PROCAST BY JOSH we sit down with Kenny Kim, a longtime friend, competitor, and fitness entrepreneur. Our journey together started many years ago when I first met Kenny during his bodybuilding debut, and from there, we built not only a strong coach-athlete relationship but a lasting friendship. Kenny’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. Moving from Korea to Australia in 2015, he initially worked in factories to survive and get on his feet. The challenges of adjusting to life in a new country with next to no money were immense. Yet, despite the hardships, Kenny remained focused on his passion for fitness and eventually transitioned back into the fitness industry—a field he had always loved. Shortly after, he joined the Pro Team as a coach, where we worked together to help him grow. But Kenny’s story doesn’t stop there. With determination, focus, and a clear vision, he took the leap and opened his own personal training studio—Body 2 Life. This move marked the beginning of his entrepreneurial journey, which has now led him to even greater success. In this episode, we talk about the challenges of starting over from scratch, the difficulties of moving overseas, and the perseverance it took to push through with so little. As we discuss throughout the conversation, if you stay determined, focused, and committed to what you’re passionate about, you’ll eventually get to where you want to be. We also dive into Kenny’s competitive bodybuilding journey, which has become a significant part of his business. He now helps many clients step on stage, showing them how health and fitness can truly change their lives. Kenny’s passion for helping others, pushing them in the gym, and his contagious energy—what we like to call "Kenergy"—is at the heart of everything he does. In addition to his thriving fitness studio, Kenny recently took on the role of QLD ANB Promoter, working with a well-established bodybuilding federation. With his growing fitness business and the success of his Cafe 63 ventures, Kenny is living proof that hard work, determination, and staying true to your passion will lead to incredible success. This episode is packed with valuable lessons for anyone looking to overcome obstacles and build something meaningful.
