Pruning the Holy Vineyard
Proclamation! For the Fifth Sunday of Easter, 28 April 2024Reverend Shelly McVea celebrates spring with a sermon that reminds us that spring is a time of planting, but it is also a time for pruning so that our gardens will prosper. Spiritually, we are branches growing on a holy vine, and our spiritual practice needs tending, nourishment, and care. Jesus said to his disciples, “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine grower… Every branch that bears fruit he prunes to make it bear more fruit.” ***Like us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/churchwithreddoor/ If you would like to speak with Reverend Shelley to have a conversation about life or faith, personal concerns or in the case of a pastoral emergency, please call the church office and a time can be arranged. 416-699-6512 Tell your friends about Proclamation! Jesus is Stronger
Proclamation! For the Third Sunday of Easter, 14 April 2024Reverend Shelley McVea reminds us that Jesus is stronger than all earthly powers as we consider together the time when Jesus manifested among the disciples after the resurrection and asked them for something to eat. He was given broiled fish, and he ate the food with them, and gave them the same reassurance that he gives to us, that he lives among us. ***Like us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/churchwithreddoor/ If you would like to speak with Reverend Shelley to have a conversation about life or faith, personal concerns or in the case of a pastoral emergency, please call the church office and a time can be arranged. 416-699-6512 Tell your friends about Proclamation! By His Wounds We Will Know Him
Proclamation! For the First Sunday of Easter, 7 April 2024After the crucifixion the apostles gather behind locked doors, fearing for their lives. The resurrected Jesus appears to them and greets them with “Shalom”, with peace. Jesus shares the evidence of his wounds, and by his wounds the apostles recognize him. Thomas, who had doubted, cries out, “My Lord and My God.” ***Like us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/churchwithreddoor/If you would like to speak with Reverend Shelley to have a conversation about life or faith, personal concerns or in the case of a pastoral emergency, please call the church office and a time can be arranged. 416-699-6512Tell your friends about Proclamation! Wandering Towards Freedom
Proclamation! For Sunday, 10 March 2024: Fourth Sunday in Lent Our journey through Lent continues with contemplation of the wilderness. Reverend Shelley McVea compares the Israelites’ wandering for 40 years in the desert with our own struggles against fear and sinfulness. Reverend Shelley considers the importance of lifting the Saviour up: when we allow him to take away our sins, we are preserved from our fears and given eternal life. *** St. Saviour’s Church, 43 Kimberley Avenue, Toronto, M4E 2Z4 416-699-6512 Email: stsaviours@rogers.com www.stsaviours.ca Like us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/churchwithreddoor/ If you would like to speak with Reverend Shelley to have a conversation about life or faith, personal concerns or in the case of a pastoral emergency, please call the church office and a time can be arranged. 416-699-6512 Tell your friends about Proclamation!
