    PunkDad Episode 10: Tyson Van

Welcome to Season 3, Episode 2 of the PunkDad Podcast! In this episode, Christoph—aka PunkDad—sits down with Tyson Van of “Hooray for Dad,” a power-pop-punk project straight out of Arizona. Hooray for Dad isn’t just a one-man band cranking out infectious, kick-ass tracks in the spirit of ’90s and 2000s icons like Lagwagon, NOFX, and Blink-182—Tyson also writes, records, and produces his own music videos, which you can catch on his always-active Instagram. Through songs like “The Greenest Lawn in the Cul-de-Sac” and “I Can’t Go,” Tyson explores life as a former punk kid turned punk dad, filtering the energy of his youth through the perspective of a husband and father. Christoph and Tyson dig into his home-studio setup, why a Marshall half stack isn’t required to make real punk, how fatherhood shapes his lyrics, the need for solitude when tracking vocals, and the joy of covering heroes like Social Distortion. It’s a conversation about growing up without growing out of punk—don’t miss it. PunkDad Episode 8: Rob "Rover" Rushing

Welcome to PunkDad Podcast's official first episode of Season 3! Join us for Christoph's aka PunkDad's conversation with Rob "Rover" Rushing, Punk Rock singer, activist and founder of nonprofit Punk Rock Saves Lives. In this interview Rob shares his experience with the punk rock scene, why mental health and self care matter more than ever and why younger people should be themselves and give a "f**k!" Rob will also share some experiences with Punk Rock Saves Lives from on the road and how his interactions with others have touched his and his wife's life. This conversation was recorded in the summer of 2023 and some mentioned events may have been subject to change. Just a couple of words about Punk Rock Saves Lives: " We show up where the noise is loudest — concerts, festivals, tours — and turn that energy into action. We’re here to help make change right now. Our mission is simple but fierce: We swab cheeks and save lives — signing people up for the bone marrow registry to fight blood cancers and disorders. Every swab could be a match. Every match could be the one. We break down barriers to self-care — handing out harm reduction supplies like naloxone (Narcan), test strips, earplugs, and emergency contraception because everyone deserves a chance to make it to the next show. We fight the stigma around mental health — sharing resources, creating safe spaces at events, and reminding you: you are not alone".
