#32 Why Your Body Doesn’t Trust Positive Thinking

Why Your Body Doesn’t Trust Positive Thinking You’ve done the mindset work. You’re thinking rationally. You know you’re “fine.” So why is your heart racing… your chest tight… your body in fight-or-flight? In this episode, I break down the disconnect between the mind and the nervous system — and why positive thinking alone doesn’t calm anxiety when your body doesn’t feel safe. If you’ve ever felt like your thoughts say “I’m okay” but your body says “we’re not,” this conversation is for you. In This Episode We Cover: Why the nervous system prioritizes safety over logicHow anxiety shows up physically (even when tests are normal)The role of past experiences and trauma in body-based fearWhy your ego mirrors panic instead of peaceWhat it really means when your body won’t cooperateSimple grounding practices that help regulate the nervous systemTimestamp:00:00 Welcome to Purposely Peaceful00:21 Mind Body Disconnect01:42 Why Positivity Feels Unsafe02:52 Anxiety Ego and Trauma04:49 My Recent Burnout Story08:37 Grounding Basics Explained09:11 Slow Down and Sense In10:39 Movement and Less Stimulation12:35 Meditation Nature and PracticeInner peace isn’t just mental — it requires cooperation from the body. And when the body feels safe, positive thinking becomes possible. #30 Peace Has Nothing to Do With Doing More

Episode 30: Peace Has Nothing to Do With Doing More A Different Way to Approach Inner Peace Inner peace isn’t something you earn after life settles down—it’s something you can access right now. In this episode, I’m sharing a few everyday habits that have genuinely helped me cultivate more inner peace—not research-based, not another to-do list, but lived and embodied practices I’ve learned through my own journey and thousands of hours working with clients. We talk about how the ego thrives on drama, why overwhelm and anxiety are often signs of misalignment rather than something being “wrong,” and how your perception of life shapes your experience more than you may realize. I also walk you through four simple ways of being that support a quieter mind and a more grounded inner world: Moving in alignment with yourselfReturning to presencePracticing gratitude (even during hard moments)Learning to trust yourself and your own guidanceTimestamp: 00:00 Introduction to Purposely Peaceful 00:21 Essential Habits for Inner Peace 03:02 The Power of Perception 06:34 Moving in Alignment 08:00 Being Present in the Moment 08:54 The Importance of Gratitude 10:46 Learning to Trust Yourself 12:39 Final Thoughts and Inspiration If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck in your head, or tired of trying to control everything just to feel okay—this episode is a gentle reminder that peace is available to you now ✨ Stay connected: Want to see more of my real life and glimpses of peace? #29 Anytime is a Good Time to Start Fresh

Anytime is a Good Time to Start Fresh After an unexpected break, I’m back and reflecting on what rest revealed for me. Slowing down was necessary, but it also showed me that rest alone doesn’t always bring clarity. Sometimes what we really need is direction. In this episode, I talk about letting go of pressure, using any moment as a reset point, and moving forward without being rigid or hard on yourself. This isn’t about perfect goals or forcing motivation, it’s about flexibility, internal momentum, and giving yourself permission to pivot. In this episode, we explore: Why rest doesn’t always equal groundingHow pressure around goals creates burnout and discouragementThe difference between external dopamine and internal motivationWhy action (even imperfect action) creates relief and momentumHow to set flexible intentions without getting attached to outcomesWhy you’re not behind—you just need to adjust directionIf you’ve been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disappointed with how things are unfolding, this episode is a reminder that you don’t need to start over. You just need to recalibrate and keep going. Any day is a good day to reset. Direction matters more than timing.
