    Athena, a 25-year-old optometrist, shares his harrowing journey of survival and resilience as a queer person in Nigeria. He recounts two traumatic experiences: a brutal kidnapping that led to his being outed to his family, and a second assault that nearly ended in violence. These events left hIs with PTSD and a deep-seated distrust of others. Despite these challenges, Athena found strength in his friends and the queer community, which provided the support hIs family couldn't. He now uses her story to inspire and educate others, while pursuing his dreams and using her future success to support the community that helped him thrive.
