Three Demands to Victorian Police from a New Trans Justice Alliance in Victoria

On this episode of 3CR’s Queering the Air, Madison (She/Her) read and discussed an open letter of demand to Victoria Police from a newly forming group, the Trans Justice Alliance Victora (TJAV), in the hope that it can restore some likelihood of Victoria Police finally doing the right thing with regards to three key aspects of Trans Justice. TJAV seek to challenge the abusers of corporate power, in order to affect positive societal change for Trans, Gender Diverse and Non-binary persons. Also, we revisit an interview conducted back in February 2024 with Frank Gafa, first nations trade unionist, activist and co-founder of the No Police at Pride campaign. During that interview, Frank shared their experiences with the behaviour of Victoria Police with regards to the Midsumma Pride March. Any listener is likely to get a sense of the extent to which littlehas changed and littleis changing in this important area of trans public policy, with the Police dragging their feet every step of the way. PLUSWe will conclude our series of interviews with the participants of the Wicked Women Reboot photo shoot, including with the photographer Jamie James.Music:Everything Starts with an E, E-Zee PosseFeatured Community Events:Shitlist Productions presents Queer Shit Show, Friday 7th Feb from 7pm till late.
