    Founded in 1981 through the spin-off by a team of engineers from Dassault Aviation to design products in three dimensions, Dassault Systemes seeks to revolutionise the aerospace industry with Computer Aided Designs or (CADs).  The aim is to advance virtual worlds and empower innovators to come up with sustainable solutions that address the most pressing global challenges.  Fast forward to today, the French software maker’s solutions touched multiple industries from aviation, to mobility and healthcare, serving 370,000 customers with differing needs and sizes.   And here are some fun facts. The firm says 90% of cars in the world are engineered or built using its collaborative solutions.  And if you’re wondering why your pair of Adidas running shoes perform or fits better – well, Dassault Systemes could have a part to play in that.   But beyond that, the firm is also involved in the building of digital twins of products, processes and even cities to help industries test and prepare for real world challenges.  All in, the company had in July 2025 reported total revenue of 1.52 billion euros for the second quarter of 2025, up 5 per cent from the year ago period. Diluted earnings, though, stood at 0.17 euros, down 19 per cent from the year prior.  But what are the key drivers of growth for the firm and what role did Asia and Singapore play in this regard?  Meanwhile, the firm also introduced its 3D UNIV+RSES at its Capital Markets Day, a comprehensive solution that embeds multiple generative AI technologies along with 3D designs, virtual twins and more.     The Big Story: Cat A COE premium blasts past a new record of $128,105. How much higher can COE prices go?

    The certificate of entitlement (COE) premium for smaller cars and electric vehicles (EVs) reached another high of $128,105 at the Oct 8 exercise, up 7.6 per cent from the previous tender. This is the third consecutive tender where a record was set in Category A, which is meant for smaller and less powerful cars and EVs. The previous high was $119,003, recorded at the tender on Sept 17. The premium for Category B COEs, used to register larger and more powerful cars and EVs, was $141,000 – a 3 per cent increase from the $136,890 registered at the last exercise. It is the highest the Category B COE price has been since the record of $150,001 was set in October 2023. What’s driving this relentless climb, and how much higher can prices go?     Singapore companies are keeping a tight rein on salary hike in 2026, even as their turnover levels remain among the highest in South-east Asia, according to a new survey by professional services firm Aon. Companies here are budgeting a 4.3 per cent salary increase in 2026 – the same as the actual growth in 2025. Regionally, companies in Vietnam are budgeting the highest salary hike at 7.1 per cent in 2026, followed by Indonesia at 5.9 per cent and the Philippines at 5.2 per cent. According to the survey, turnover levels in Singapore firms during the period from June 1, 2024 to June 1, 2025, remained among the highest at 19.3 per cent in the region, just behind the Philippines (20 per cent).
