On March 16, 2000, two police officers were shot in one of Atlanta’s oldest neighborhoods. One officer died and the other claimed the shooter was Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin, the leader of a local mosque. Once known as H. Rap Brown, a charismatic leader of the Black Power Movement, and an honorary officer in the Black Panther Party, Al-Amin was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. But was Al-Amin truly guilty? Or was it payback for decades of work against the establishment?

Top notch podcast

Great podcast. Host does a good job sorting through a lot of difficult issues and conflicting stories. One of my favorites this year

That’s Gonna Be a Naw from Me

Honestly couldn’t get past the first episode. Not sure the host is even the best person to tell this story when he lumps Nation of Islam Muslims and actual Muslims into one category. Cursory knowledge of both religions makes it obvious that Nation of Islam Muslims are black nationalists cosplaying as “Muslims” as racial nationalism or separatism has zero place in mainstream Islam. Malcolm X figured this out easily enough and this is why he left the Nation of Islam. Host also used the word “Islamist” interchangeably with “Muslim” and uhh buddy those two things are not interchangeable. Bonus cringe points for mispronouncing masjid and imam.

Good show too many ads

The story was great but the amount of ad breaks was distracting.
