S5EP1 - You are the advocate for your own health; with Andrea from Vitalita Nutrition

S5EP1 - You are the advocate for your own health; with Andrea from Vitalita Nutrition

When we meet with new clients we get to hear their stories of conception, and often are saddened by the experiences of people with infertility, PCOS, and endometriosis.

We KNOW not enough research is done on women's health, and we see first hand how that affects all of us. We need to demand better. We need to make change. But we all need to understand from a young age that we WILL have to advocate for our own health.

    Find a better doctor.

    Demand the tests you want.

Learn your cycle, and understand nutrition.

Build a team of holistic experts to reach out to and lean on for health care support.

Andrea is a Dietician, and a Holistic Nutritionist. She is a wealth of information about how important it is to manage your stress, sleep, and gut health to help regulate your hormones.

Your hormones affect EVERYTHING. And if your stress, sleep and gut are off, your hormones are wonky, and you will get symptoms. Some are big, some are small, but some are life altering.

Take your health into your own hands, and start to understand how your body functions optimally.

Spot on and so helpful

I’ve been working on unpacking my own birth trauma from 4 years ago. I was a single mom at the time and didn’t have the proper head space or time to really work through what happened. Everything was perfectly normal until after my due date at a NST where they discovered that my son was breech. The ultrasound tech simply told me that I would be having a c-section. I was not given any options, and only had 1 1/2 days to prepare. I was immediately thrown into survival mode because I had not done any research or preparation for a cesarean. I just listened to my first episode (3:11) on speaking up. WOW. I cried at a few points because I related to so much. I wish the doctors knew just how little a mother is able to process once she has a spinal tap. I barely remember seeing my son’s face through the tiny plastic square on the drape that separated me from his entrance into this world. I don’t remember them setting him on me because I was so out of it. The entire medical world needs to change their approach and attitude about cesareans— it’s not a normal surgery where the patient is put under and your bedside manner doesn’t matter. Your patient is CONSCIOUS and is giving BIRTH!! That should count for somethings to be changed. Thank you for making this podcast. I look forward to listening to them all now.

Nope

First time listener. I would describe this podcast as negative. I heard fear-mongering comments about healthcare, health professionals and hospitals. That’s not helpful. I heard negative comments on visitors to their home (adults can say no). I heard how they went to a wedding and baby shower 3 to 7 days after having twins and a single baby. (Crazy) Anyone who made these choices, I would not listen to their baby advise. I suggest you both try to be a bit more positive toward a happy time having a baby. Tips/advise are great but not dished up with this much bile.
