In The Now - Episode 8: School Bullying (Finale for AY25/26 Sem 2, and the short term)

Recorded 17 April 2026 WARNING: Viewer discretion is advised. This podcast contains some description of violence from bullying incidents. Join us, Anelka and Nico, for one last time this semester. While thinking of what to talk about, we figured we spend the last episode on a topic that's a little closer to home for us: bullying in schools and the Ministry of Education (MOE)'s latest announcement on tackling the issue. This includes more consistent rules across the schooling system as well as resources for both students and teachers with regards to bullying. We discuss the impacts of bullying and we are we apparently seeing more bullying incidents across social media. More importantly, what is needed for the ideal bully-free school environment? Tune in to hear our thoughts. In the second part, we go back to our tradition of having a long-form reflection of the semester and the podcast show in general. We share our feelings and thoughts on how the show has grown and changed over our 4-semester run on Radio Pulze (yes, four! How time flies). With the both of us unlikely to continue for the next semester, this might potentially be the last time you'll hear us on the air for the next few months or so. Current Affairs has added a little more diversity and option for listeners of Radio Pulze; and while we cannot compete with established news and current affairs organisations, we hoped you enjoyed our take and views of various topics making the news this half of the year. In our hearts, we do hope Current Affairs continue while we take a short semester-break. A tough show to start but a rewarding run one can expect. We'd like to say: Thank you, yes you -- the listener! We hoped you enjoyed our podcast as much as (or even more than) we had fun making it. It has been a great joy to deliver (delayed) current affairs for the past 2 academic years to your ears and devices! :) P.S: For more on MOE's latest measures to handle incidents of bullying:https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapore/school-bullying-punishment-caning-moe-6056521

In The Now - Episode 7: Artemis II

Recorded 10 April 2026 New bounds were made as the Artemis II mission completes it's flyby mission of the moon, making it the farthest human spaceflight. Join us, Anelka and Nico, as we talk about the mission's journey and our reflection on Earth and further in astronomy. We talk you through the pictures taken from the Artemis II's crew. We return back to Earth for a short break as we discuss our summer plans, be it travel, work or military callback. After the break, we return with the upcoming Lyrid shower in late April. Did you manage to catch this awesome event? From there, we talk about our stargazing experiences, both graded and ungraded. We then move on to Singapore's newest public agency: the National Space Agency of Singapore (NSAS), which began operations on 1 April 2026. Here our aspirations for NSAS and the local space industry as the world steps up it's progress in delving into (one of the) last undiscovered frontiers. Finally, we couldn't end this astronomy-related episode without talking about one of the best courses we've taken so far -- HSI2009: What is a Planet?. We share our journey in the course as well as the joys undertaking this course over the past 4 months. If you're a frequent listener, there's no hiding our admiration for the course. It's an out-of-this-world episode, happy listening! :) If you'd like to see the pictures we're talking about in this episode, here it is: https://www.theguardian.com/science/gallery/2026/apr/07/nasa-artemis-ii-orion-moon-mission-day-five-in-pictures
