Everything is fine and dandy in Wendell. There's nothing off-putting or strange at all. Why would you even ask that? Don't ask questions. But after some unnerving encounters with the local radio announcer and an influential farmer, newcomer Gabe Rodriguez can't help but ask questions. Questions like, is that talking scarecrow completely psychotic, or am I?

Unique and eerie

The description made me think “knockoff Night Vale”, but they’re actually nothing alike. The plot is short, but compelling, I liked the characters, and I enjoyed the blend of unnerving sound editing, poetry, and music along with the story. Would love to have more, but it seems to be a one and done story.

An Absolute Inspiration

This has been a monster year for new audio fiction and within that crowded field ‘Radioland’ has managed to carve out a truly unique identity, both in its storytelling and in its sound design. The writing is subtle and beautiful, yet somehow still incredibly heavy and haunting. The mystery will leave you guessing throughout the series, using disjointed segments and strange characters to build out the world, but just know that ultimately everything has a purpose and a place. And when it all comes into focus this story will stick to your ribs and crush your heart. If you’re still reading this review, just stop, do yourself a favor and binge Radioland. But don’t listen to me. I’m just a scarecrow.
