Episode 172: Meeting Yourself With Grace in the Middle of a Spiral

In this episode of Raising Serotonin, I’m opening up about emotional spirals, the kind that feel overwhelming, heavy, and hard to pull yourself out of.  I share some of my own experiences with spiraling and what I’ve learned through therapy, self-reflection, and giving myself a little more compassion along the way, I talk about the importance of slowing down long enough to acknowledge what I’m actually feeling instead of judging it or trying to push it away.  So often, my spirals weren’t really about the surface issue, they were about deeper triggers that needed attention, care, and understanding. Learning to gently ask myself, “What’s really going on here?” has been a powerful shift. In this conversation, I walk through some of the tools that have helped me, naming my emotions instead of shaming them, recognizing my triggers, using affirmations that feel grounding (not forced), and allowing myself to talk things through with people I trust. I’ve learned that healing isn’t about never spiraling again, it’s about knowing how to meet yourself with grace when you do. If you’ve ever felt caught in your thoughts or overwhelmed by your emotions, I hope this episode reminds you that you’re not broken. You’re human. Your feelings make sense. And you are worthy of love, patience, and support, especially from yourself. We’re not trying to eliminate emotions here. We’re learning how to hold them with care. Episode 170: The Mental Health Glow Up for 2026

Welcome to the first Raising Serotonin episode of 2026!!! I wanted to kick this year off by talking about something that’s been sitting heavy with me, the idea that glow ups are still being framed as mostly physical. Hair, nails, Botox, weight… and almost no conversation around mental health. And personally, I believe every single one of us can always be working on our mental health. In this episode of Raising Serotonin, I talk about why physical changes alone don’t create lasting happiness, and why mindset, emotional health, gut health, and daily habits matter just as much, if not more. I share what my own 2026 glow up looks like, including starting my counseling practicum and stepping fully into the work I feel called to do: listening, supporting, and helping others heal. This year isn’t about changing how I look, it’s about growing mentally, emotionally, and professionally. I also break down what a mental health glow up can actually look like, because it’s different for everyone. There’s no timeline, no pressure to change everything at once, and no “right” way to do this. Whether you’re focusing on therapy, movement, boundaries, nutrition, or simply being more mindful, you have the next 11 months to grow and growth can start anytime you choose. I talk about two specific things I’m intentionally working on this year: letting go of chasing a number on the scale and being more mindful of my screen time. The scale can quietly mess with our heads, and social media, while useful,  can be incredibly draining if we’re not careful. Protecting our peace matters. This episode is a reminder that the work is daily, not seasonal. There is no finish line. The goal is to get 1% better, show up with intention, and choose growth even when it’s uncomfortable. You deserve to feel good. You don’t have to sit in pain this year. And I’m so glad you’re here growing with me.
