    Random Cinema: Season 4: Episode 5: Land of the Dead (2005)

    Season 4: Episode 5: Land of the Dead (2005) Brennan and Andrew are back again and this time they’re talking about the zombie classic, Land of the Dead. Directed by the legendary George Romero, the god father of zombies, it’s a fantastic zombie movie. This episode is kind of a gush piece. Brennan and Andrew talk about the importance of Romero and the Romero zombie on pop culture as a whole, and the things it impacted. We also discuss how this is a TERRIBLE example of how to set up a community, but to be fair it’s a world where people are complacent with the zombie Stenches. This movie also features some amazing performances from John Leguizamo and Dennis Hopper, as well as some fantastic Romero heroes. But honestly… Foxy all the way! This movie stars Katharine Isabelle, of Ginger Snaps fame, ADR and an oddly positive view on the body mod community.     Random Cinema: Season 4: Episode 3: Real Genius (1985)

    Season 4: Episode 3: Real Genius (1985) This episode the guys talk about Real Genius.  A long time classic for Andrew, this was the first time Brennan had seen this movie. This movie is a 1980’s College raunch film… if done by Disney. It stars a young Val Kilmer as an Einstein level intellect at a made up version of Cal Tech who develops a laser. Brennan and Andrew talk about this film, realize how good it is for a PG - 13 (at best… or worst?) movie and compare it to some fairly problematic other films. Andrew also discusses something that he only realized for the first time on this watch (his 12th or 13th). This movie has some WEIRD sexual moments around a pair of blonde women… not like offensive or rapey but just genuinely… weird. Andrew also tee’s Brennan up perfectly… but does he connect?     Season 4: Episode 2: Titane (2021)  This week Andrew and Brennan watched the 2021 French body horror, Titane. Buckle up ya’ll this is another one for the books. This was not an easy watch and this movie takes some interesting turns but woof, is it ever not for the faint hearted.  We discuss the twists and turns of the movie, have some differing opinions on the deeper meaning of the film and some audio issues for good measure! We also make sure to discuss the how's and whys of how this film could possibly be as well reviewed as it is! Seriously this movie has some crazy high review numbers and is very well received for being what it is… why this and why not Fried Barry?     Random Cinema: Season 3: Episode 10: Strange Brew (1983)

    Season 3: Episode 10: Strange Brew (1983) This is the season finale of the Canadian Content season of Random Cinema, and we end on a classic. This episode we talk about the Rick Moranis/Dave Thomas classic, Strange Brew.  And this movie is exactly that, a classic. But not much can be said about this classic. It’s based on the sketch comedy characters of Bob and Doug Mackenzie, the UBER Canadian brother pair. Andrew compares this movie to Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein for a reason. It’s a series of sketches with a loose B plot based on Hamlet. Overall it’s a solid movie that you can see the DNA of in other films of its type, like Fubar.  It was a blast talking about Canadian content for a year but there are other films we want to talk about so we combined the leftover Canadian films with a trimmed down list from Season 2 to make a new season with more Canadian content mixed in with the international films we want to discuss. This yule season we talk about a Canadian Horror classic, 1974’s Black Christmas. Andrew really was surprised by how much he enjoyed this movie and Brennan is right there with him. Join us as we discuss the importance of this film as a Canadian film and as a horror film. We discuss the call coming from inside the house, slashers in general and the frustration but uniqueness of never meeting or finding out who the killer is. This episode Brennan and Andrew discuss the 2002 mockumentary, Fubar.  Fubar follows the adventures of Terry and Dean, two bangers from Alberta who crush beers, hang out with their buddy Tron and deal with sudden life changing events like Dean’s battle with testicular cancer, and the death of a close friend.  Join us in our next episode as we talk about 1974’s Black Christmas, an appropriate pick for December as we move towards a new year!
