RTC Legends Series E03: Debonair305 of Home Team and Poison Clan

🎧RTC Legends Series Episode Three: Debonair305 🎙️🎙️🎙️RAP…the conversation Legends Series Episode Three released March 31, 2026 ➡️ An under-acknowledged major contributor to the flavour of early 90’s hip hop, Debonair’s journey began, like many emcees, in East New York, in the borough of Brooklyn.  His travels as a young man brought him to South Florida - Miami to be exact - where he connected with JT Money to form the original Poison Clan. The fearless duo would be discovered shortly thereafter by the already established and connected DJ Mr. Mixx, who just so happened to be co-founder of and producer for the most controversial rap group of all time - forefathers in the fight to protect freedom of expression in music - Miami’s own 2 Live Crew. Mixx must have sensed something special in Debonair, as he became a mentor of sorts to the young impresario, sharing with him the fine arts of song structure, sample selection and  production techniques.  Their friendship endures to this day. Having left Poison Clan following the release of their 1990 debut 2 Low Life Muthas, Debonair and his younger brother Drugzie created Home Team, delivering Via Satellite From Saturn in 1992 on Luke Records.  Powered by the irresistible lead single Pick It Up, and despite the album’s seemingly effortless but mind bogglingly creative content, their first record would ultimately prove to be their last, with fans waiting 35 years for a follow-up.  Debonair explains in our exclusive conversation the reasons behind the Malignant Graffiti project being postponed indefinitely. A true Luke Records alumni, DebRock was featured on 2 Live Crew’s gold album Banned in the USA and contributed  charismatic bars to Mr. Skywalker’s solo projects over the years.  Still active, but wiser and more calculated, Debonair recently released a book entitled Debonair305 Quotes, available at select retailers. Now a friend of the show, our third season will debut a new series: RTC b-sides with Debonair305, featuring his industry insider’s perspective on the artists and albums we’ve chosen to discuss each week. Stay tuned. Season three begins this fall. And we’ve got more surprise RTC Legends Series episodes to come during the off-season. #raptheconversation #rtclegendsseries #debonair305 #poisonclan #2lowlifemuthas #hometeam #viasatellitefromsaturn #eastnewyork #brooklyn #miami #debonair305quotes 🎙️ 🎙️ 🎙️ x.com/cube1871 x.com/mrvines14 x.com/raptheconvo x.com/sugarsean20 instagram.com/cube187187 instagram.com/yosefndonuts instagram.com/sugarsean2024 instagram.com/raptheconversation

RTC Legends Series E02: Mopreme Shakur

🎧RTC Legends Series Episode Two: Mopreme Shakur 🎙️🎙️🎙️RAP…the conversation Legends Series Episode Two released February 24, 2026 This Thug’s Life Hardcover and Audiobook Released February 24, 2026 Written by: Mopreme Shakur with Talia Rodriguez-Shakur ➡️ Some lineages leave legacies.  Others become the subjects of legends, expanding consciousness and appealing for generations to a common denominator of human decency. The Shakur name, which translates as “thankful to God” in Arabic, represents such timelessness.  This dynasty has persevered and continues to command respect, representing a strong, steadfast resistance which transcends both time and territorial borders.  From the Republic of New Afrika to the BPP, the Black Liberation Army and T.H.U.G L.I.F.E., the Shakur name remains held in the highest regard, etched into history, written and spoken about with reverence throughout the world. Without a doubt, the Shakur we recent generations are most familiar with is the complex and often misunderstood Rebel of the Underground - Tupac Amaru. But the story goes deeper.  In his new book - This Thug’s Life - Pac’s brother Mopreme gives a first hand account and remarkably vulnerable, compelling look at the life and times of the Shakur brothers through the eyes of the man who, unbeknownst to many, was the selfless stabilizing force riding shotgun alongside a young and fearless Pac as he began to decimate and overcome the impenetrable walls of music and entertainment.  Unwilling to compromise his values or capitulate to industry expectations, Afeni’s son carved his own lane, ultimately insulating himself contractually through a unique arrangement between Out Da Gutta Records and Interscope. With the Shakur spirit illuminating its pages, This Thug’s Life is the true story - through the eyes of the big brother of the greatest rapper to ever live. a.co/d/04KeBe4k books.apple.com/ca/audiobook/this-thugs-life-my-life-at-the-intersection-of/id1863812985 indigo.ca/en-ca/this-thugs-life/9781496760586.html?searchType=products&searchTerm=Mopreme%20shakur #rtclegendsseries #mopremeshakur #thisthugslife #outlawimmortalz #thuglife #tupacamarushakur
