Episode 61 - Subverting Expectations (Guest: Jamie Wahls)

Alex and I attended a writing retreat with some other authors in the rationality community, and while there decided to host an impromptu episode on subverting expectations, joined (primarily) by our Nebula nominated friend, Jamie Wahls. All I had to record with was my laptop, so apologies for the sound quality!

Copper Zirconium ,

Great analysis!

I came here from the r/rational subreddit. Although I haven't written anything, I like deconstructing tropes and worldbuilding. The hosts/authors do a good job both on the podcast and in their written works.

Immensely pragmatic writing lessons

I was recommended this podcast by a friend. It didn't disappoint.

Daystar and Alexander deliver insightful, salient, and most importantly, relevant writing tips. They focus specifically on "rational fiction", which seems to be a sub-genre of science fiction and fantasy, but the lessons are easily applied to any genre. This podcast is essentially a repository of ideas that, when properly enacted, make a work more sensible.

An amazing podcast; I intend to apply the ideas they teach. Would give five stars, were it not for subpar sound quality and terribly informal personalities.
