wrote this in a discord but feel like it sums up what about this show so appeals to me, and perhaps will for you, too:
if you've listened to Revolutions by Mike Duncan, Reaction shares similarities w/r/t format, but delves into the history of reactionary movements.
like Duncan's podcast, Reaction is a one-person show. Britney Gil studied reactionary movements in her graduate program and narrates audiobooks by trade, so the narration and production quality are excellent. you can tell Gil’s command of the material is more than intellectual, i.e. it comes from a genuine fascination that you can feel.
the show has covered the Pinkertons and as of this writing is exploring The Turner Diaries, each broken into meaty yet, thankfully, accessibly short parts. you can also subscribe on patreon for supplemental content, including full-text transcripts; as someone who processes information slowly, whether in spoken or text form, I appreciate the transcripts.
i’ve made a pact with myself to avoid going to grad school, at all costs, if only to teach myself how to study on my own. though Reaction and the many educational podcasts and YouTubes in this realm can’t replace a full on program, as a companion to guide further study, they’re more than good enough.
