Special Bronwen Logan and Mary Riposo New Clues About Mikao Usui Are Changing How We Teach Reiki

The fastest way to start a fight online about Reiki is to ask a simple question and watch as answers turn into attack. Ready Set Reiki hope is for  a calmer, smarter path, one where we can respect all systems all images and all schools of Reiki . Ready Set reiki invited two true way showers; Bronwen Logan of Reiki With Bronwen  and Mary Riposo   of Infinite Light Center. Together, we name what is actually happening beneath the noise: widespread Reiki misconceptions, fuzzy definitions, and an “identity crisis” that shows up when people confuse Reiki the practice with “Reiki the energy,” or when they treat a Reiki session like something a practitioner does to you instead of a practice you share and embody. We also dig into why Reiki history matters right now. Bronwyn explains why new primary source material, including a handwritten 1904 CV from Mikao Usui, is so exciting and so stabilizing. When fresh evidence appears, it can confirm parts of the story, challenge other parts, and push us to teach with more care. That is not trivia, it is ethics. If we want Reiki training to be credible and clear, we cannot keep repeating claims that misrepresent the system or inflate it into something medical. Staying relevant is part of staying honest. Then we bring it into the modern world: distance Reiki, online Reiki classes, and what real access looks like. Mary shares why her entire practice is remote now, why live teaching on Zoom can be deeply supportive, and how it can serve students who cannot travel or who need safety and privacy. We close by asking a grounded question: if Usui were here today, would he be disgusted or would he hand us the precepts and ask us to practice them. Bronwen Logan, also known as Bronwen Stiene, is an educator in the Japanese art of Reiki, as well as a writer, an animal lover, a thinker, a podcaster, a feminist, and a catalyst for spiritual and personal empowerment. With 25 years of teaching experience and counting, Bronwen’s teachings extend beyond the conventional, inviting you to explore the deeper, transformative elements of the system of Reiki. Bronwen’s interests include studying meditation from a variety of cultural influences, writing about her spiritual experiences from a philosophical and practical perspective, discovering more about the importance of Japanese culture and philosophy in the system of Reiki, embodying the role of women in the healing arts, supporting the wellbeing of animals through healing work and more. A driving force in the Reiki community, Bronwen co-founded both the International House of Reiki and Shibumi International Reiki Association. She’s the co-author of respected works such as The Reiki Sourcebook, The Japanese Art of Reiki, and Your Reiki Treatment. Her extensive publications and teaching materials have been a cornerstone for students globally, offering guidance that blends scholarly accuracy with heart-centred intuition. Bronwen’s soothing voice has guided many through Reiki audiobooks, blogs and a wide range of meditations and web classes. Always focused on her students’ well-being, Bronwen supports her work with certifications in Teaching Training and Assessment, TEFLA, Senior First Aid, and Counseling. Living in Australia’s countryside, Bronwen teaches and offers treatments in the tranquil setting of Tomah Retreat in the Blue Mountains. Here, she has created a haven for the many rescue animals in her life and a venue for students to come and stay and study. Bronwen is equally at home in the realm of virtual healing for those who can’t make the journey to Tomah Retreat. Her online courses include regular weekly, bi-weekly and monthly classes for students of her Reiki world, Reiki with Bronwen. Mary Riposo Mary is a Reiki Master practitioner, teacher, author, and coach who found Reiki after suffering from a number of mystery illnesses that didn’t respond to Western medicine. She had such a positive response that she decided to learn Reiki herself and share it with others. Mary ran Infinite Light Center with her husband, Tony, from 2013 to 2021, where she directed the Reiki Program. After the physical location closed in 2021, Mary began practicing exclusively online, offering sessions, workshops, mentoring & classes in all levels of Usui/Holy Fire® Reiki and ICRT Animal Reiki.   Subscribe for more Reiki conversations, share this with a practitioner who feels overwhelmed by the online noise, and leave a review so more people can find a steady, informed Reiki path. Episode #211 Tracy Searight; How surgery Reframed My Reiki Path

Tracy Searight shares her journey with a recent Hip replacement surgery. Years of Yoga and not listening to the whispers of her  body  Someone told my daughter, “I heard your mother is falling apart,” and it hit me in a place I didn’t expect. Six weeks after a right hip replacement, I can finally name what’s really happening: I’m not falling apart, I’m being put back together. This is a solo, deeply personal Ready Set Reiki story about what it looks like when your body forces a pause and your spirit has to catch up. I walk you through the long arc, from a passionate yoga practice and the ways I didn’t listen to my body, to the grief that cracked my life open after losing my sister and later my father. Reiki energy healing, prayer, and a steady relationship with God become daily tools for stress relief, emotional regulation, and trust, especially when life requires big pivots like moving, starting over at 50, and letting go of opportunities I’d been manifesting for years. We also get real about a question many people whisper: if you “do Reiki,” should you ever need surgery, medication, or physical therapy? I share why ethical Reiki never replaces medical care, why practitioners don’t diagnose, and how energy work can support recovery without magical thinking. Finally, I break down how to navigate the growing world of Reiki systems and Reiki training with research, transparency, and respect for lineage so you can choose what fits your healing journey. Tracy Searight At the age 5 knew she had the heart of a teacher and a mother. These two passions were her driving force through majority of her life. In 2006 she connected with Yoga and it became a beautiful love affair. Pushing her body and not listening to the whispers of her body Tracy  used Yoga to move through the most challenging and painful parts of her life. Genetics, life and wear and tear she found herself four years ago with a tear as she was a student in a yoga class. The x-ray in the Surgeon’s office told of two decades worth of damage. At the top of her game, she had to make a decision. Do I pause to heal or do I push through and keep going? Wife, mother, fur mom, teacher, yoga teacher, Reiku master, author, podcast, and host of the TV show Laughing light Worker Tracy shares her journey what may look like falling apart to others was just a matter of her finally coming together. Episide #211 Jessie Rudi, PhD, Reiki Master Why Reiki Sometimes Brings Tears And Clarity

Reiki has a reputation for being all calm, cozy, and bliss, but what happens when a session brings tears, big realizations, or a total shift in how you see your life? I sit down with Jessie Rudi, PhD, a Reiki master teacher, mentor, and founder of Clearly Connected Healing, to talk about the real lived experience of Reiki and energy healing, especially for sensitive people who have spent years carrying what isn’t theirs. Jessie Rudi, PhD, Reiki Master shares how Reiki “found” her in 2023, why her first session felt like coming home to her own energy, and how that moment opened a surprising path of self-discovery. We unpack common Reiki misconceptions, including the idea that every Reiki session is rainbows and relaxation, and why emotional release can be exactly what the nervous system needs to downregulate and reset. We also talk about being an empath, energetic boundaries, and why energetic hygiene matters so you don’t finish a day of client work feeling depleted. For anyone balancing family life, a day job, or the pressure to “do it the right way,” Jessie Rudi, offers practical, doable self-Reiki habits: quick morning scans, hands on heart, a Reiki shower, and the simple phrase “Reiki, be with me.” We also get into slowing down as a spiritual practice, how to tell when something is yours versus the collective, and what it looks like to grow a grounded Reiki business with integrity. Jessie Rudi, recommends two standout reads for Reiki practitioners and empaths and shares how she’s expanding her work to support babies, kids, and parents through big life transitions. Jessie Rudi, PhD is a Reiki Master, teacher, mentor, energy practitioner, and founder of Clearly Connected Healing based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She offers in-person and virtual energy healing sessions, along with training opportunities and community experiences designed to help people slow down, reconnect, and feel more like themselves again. Jessie is especially passionate about making Reiki and energy healing feel approachable and relevant in today's world, sharing it in a way that is both grounded and intuitive. Her clients often describe her sessions as a form of energetic coaching, blending intuitive insights with practical recommendations for everyday life.  Jessie Rudi, PhD, Reiki Master Owner, Clearly Connected Healing, LLC www.clearlyconnectedhealing.com 612-669-7037 700 Twelve Center Oaks Drive, Suite 253 Wayzata, MN 55391 Listen now, then subscribe, share with a friend who needs a nervous system reset, and leave a review so more people can find the show. Episode #210 Jayne Goodsir Reclaiming Reiki Through Spiritual Sovereignty

Reiki can be life-changing,  it can also come with rules that make you second-guess yourself. I’m joined by Jayne Goodsir , a reclamation mentor and spiritual visionary based in Scotland, to talk about what happens when Reiki training leaves people with more questions than clarity and how to find your way back to authentic connection. We get into spiritual sovereignty, why “permission-based” Reiki culture can quietly strip practitioners of confidence, and how to hold respect for tradition without turning it into dogma.  Jayne Goodsirshares why she stopped relying on hierarchy and started building a spirit-led Reiki approach rooted in direct connection, discernment, and what feels coherent in real life. We also unpack common controversies with nuance: attunements, online training, distance Reiki, and why different lineages can coexist without turning into battles. Then we go practical. If you’ve ever felt drained after a client session, Jayne Goodsir explains energetic bleed and the difference between using your personal energy versus letting universal life force energy do the work. We talk energetic hygiene, the hollow bone state, and why nervous system regulation is often the missing foundation behind boundaries, intuition, and sustainable energy work. Jayne is a Reiki Reclamation Mentor & Spiritual Visionary.  She supports qualified and aspiring Reiki practitioners to reclaim authentic connection through Spiritual sovereignty, as opposed to hierarchy, dogma and rigid structures, inside her online Spirit-led Reiki Pathway.  Sovereign Reiki Reclamation Mentor & Spiritual Visionary www.reikiredefined.com If this conversation helps you breathe easier, share it with a Reiki friend, subscribe so you don’t miss what’s next, and leave a review to help more practitioners find the show. Episode #209 Wesley Elliott: What If Your Body Already Knows The Way

Your body is not ignoring your affirmations, it’s protecting you. When your nervous system is stuck in fight or flight, “trying harder” with your mind can feel like using the wrong tool for the job, and that’s where Reiki and somatic healing can finally click together in a grounded way. We’re joined by Wesley Elliott, founder of Ahó Healing Arts in Plano, Texas, to talk about what changed when Reiki found him during a personal turning point and why he now blends energy work with bodywork and nervous system awareness. Wesley breaks down the biggest misconceptions he hears about Reiki and energy healing, including the idea that the mind and body are separate or that Reiki is only relaxation. We explore what it looks like when healing becomes participatory, where the client’s own awareness and readiness matter as much as the practitioner’s skill. Then we dig into transpersonal somatic therapy, the modality Wesley co-created, combining physical touch, somatic awareness, intuitive guidance, and energetic awareness in one consent-based, trauma-aware approach. We also cover practical guidance for choosing a Reiki practitioner or Reiki master teacher, why presence and humility are non-negotiable, and what to expect when you’re building confidence and trying to turn Reiki into a real profession. Along the way, we touch on lineage-based patterns, community healing spaces, and accessible resources like free classes and self-guided tools. Wesley Elliott is a visionary healer, teacher, and space holder devoted to guiding individuals and communities through deep, embodied transformation. As Co-Founder of Ahó Healing Arts and Co-Creator of Transpersonal Somatic Therapy®, Wesley weaves together somatic intelligence, energetic awareness, and transpersonal insight to support healing at the level of mind, body, and spirit. With extensive training and lived experience, Wesley’s work focuses on helping clients recognize and unwind inherited patterns, release stored emotional and energetic imprints, and reconnect with their innate capacity for self-healing. As an Epigenetic Pattern Specialist, he supports clients in bringing awareness to subconscious and lineage-based patterns, facilitating integration through grounded, trauma-aware, and consent-based practices. A Reiki Master and Teacher, Wesley has guided countless individuals through energetic attunement, nervous system regulation, and embodied presence. His sessions and teachings are known for their depth, clarity, and ability to create lasting shifts without bypassing the human experience. In addition to his clinical and ceremonial work, Wesley is a keynote speaker and mentor for practitioners and leaders called to serve others. Through mentorship, education, and lived example, he supports the next generation of healers in building ethical, sustainable, and soul-aligned practices. Wesley’s work is rooted in integrity, embodiment, and remembrance—honoring ancient wisdom while remaining grounded in the realities of modern life. Episode #208 Andrea Ochitwa What If Calm Is A Skill You Can Train

Crisis work changes your body, even when you’re “fine” on the outside.  Andrea Ochitwaspent nearly two decades in emergency communications supporting people through high-stress, life-changing moments, and eventually had to step away due to occupational PTSD. We sit down together to talk about what recovery really demands: time, nervous system awareness, and tools that help you feel safe inside your own skin again. Andrea shares how Reiki found her twice, first through an unexpected table session that opened the floodgates of release, and later through formal Reiki training that helped her rebuild steadiness and trust. We unpack common misconceptions about Reiki (yes, including the “religion or cult” assumptions), and we get honest about what ethical Reiki practice should look like: confidentiality, consent, non-judgment, transparent training, and clear boundaries that include referring out for counseling or medical care when needed. Then we go somewhere you might not expect: Reiki in photography. Andrea explains how self-Reiki helps her enter animal spaces grounded and calm, how she asks permission before offering Reiki, and how that respectful energy can support domesticated animals and even wildlife. We also cover practical regulation strategies you can use today, from breathwork and nature to meditation styles that actually fit your nervous system. Andrea is a Calgary-based wellness facilitator, meditation teacher, and Reiki Master with nearly two decades of experience in emergency communications with the local police service. Through her work in emergency services, Andrea developed a deep understanding of stress, trauma, and how chronic pressure affects the nervous system. This experience eventually led her to pursue training in meditation, energy healing, and trauma-informed wellness practices. Today, Andrea combines her background in crisis support with holistic wellness approaches to help people reconnect with calm and balance. Her work includes guided meditation sessions, mindful creativity workshops, Reiki sessions, and nature-based wellness experiences. Andrea is passionate about creating safe and supportive environments where people can slow down, reduce stress, and nurture their wellbeing. Episode #207 Ren Oberhill Reiki Meets Real Life Healing

You can do years of “good” personal work and still feel like something is missing, especially when healing stays stuck in your head. That’s why this conversation lands so deeply: we sit down with Ren Oberhill, a licensed counselor and experienced energy practitioner, to explore what changes when Reiki becomes part of real-world healing and not just a separate add-on. We talk about growing up sensitive and intuitive, learning to shut that down when it didn’t feel safe, and how that same drive to understand people led Ren into counseling, academia, and private practice. Over time, she noticed many clients could explain their patterns perfectly, yet still felt unintegrated and unembodied. Adding Reiki and spiritual attunement brought a different kind of progress: less strain in the room, more compassion, and a nervous system that can finally settle enough to transform. We also get practical about Reiki misconceptions and Reiki safety. What do you do with the fear that “Reiki can harm you”? How do you choose a Reiki practitioner who holds a safe field? We dig into consent, touch boundaries, intakes, and why no healer should act like the authority over your life. Ren also shares her go-to stress relief tools for helpers, plus book recommendations on empaths, intuition, mindfulness, and complex trauma. Ren is a licensed Counselor and Energy Practitioner with over 18 years of experience walking alongside individuals through healing and life transitions. She is deeply passionate about supporting both people and animals, creating intentional spaces where clients can slow down, reconnect, and listen to their inner wisdom. Her work centers around Holistic Clarity Sessions, which blend Reiki, hypnotherapy, body-based awareness, and intuitive practices. Ren’s approach is grounded in safety, autonomy, and attunement—allowing each session to unfold at a pace that honors the client’s nervous system and spirit. Through Reiki, she supports deep relaxation, emotional clarity, and a reconnection to one’s inner knowing. Ren has been studying and practicing Usui and Angelic Reiki for over three years and is Animal Reiki Certified through the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT). She continues to deepen her practice through ongoing education and devotion to her craft. Ren’s work was recently recognized in Reiki News Magazine, where her article, “The Ways Reiki Enhanced My Therapy Practice,” was published in the Spring 2026 issue. At the heart of Ren’s philosophy is the belief that healing should empower—not create dependency. Her work is intentionally short-term and alignment-based, helping clients build trust in themselves so they can move forward with clarity, confidence, and self-trust. She believes that many of the struggles people face stem from a core wound around not feeling safe to be fully themselves, and her work gently supports the restoration of balance across mind, body, and spirit. Ren is devoted to helping others reconnect with their gifts, their purpose, and their joy. Episode # 206 May Yeary From Autoimmune Struggle To Reiki Based Healing

Reiki is one of those things people love to argue about until they actually experience it. I sit down with Reiki Master , May Yeary certified integrative health coach who found Reiki by accident, resisted it at first, then watched it transform both her personal life and the way she helps clients heal. May shares her real world health story, including autoimmune struggles in her early 20s, the frustration of being dismissed, and the patience it took to reach remission. From there, we get into what brought her into energy work and why Reiki became a turning point for stress reduction, emotional healing, and feeling “clear” enough to take healthy action. We also talk about how Reiki can support the nervous system, why some people notice changes without long conversations, and what “cleaning house” can look like in daily life. We also address the  misconceptions: claims that Reiki is witchcraft, satanic, or a cult, plus the gatekeeping that can show up even among practitioners. If you’ve ever wondered how to pick a Reiki practitioner, we cover what matters most, why a discovery call can save you time, and the simple but important test of whether you feel safe and supported. May Yeary  is a Reiki Master and Certified Integrative Health Coach devoted to helping others heal on every level, mind, body, and spirit. Blending energy work with integrative health practices, she creates a deeply supportive space for transformation. Her path began through her own experience with autoimmune issues in her early twenties, now in remission, which awakened her calling to guide others back to vitality, alignment, and inner power.
