Reclaim Your Plate

Samantha Lee

Coach Sam is a Hmong-American woman, the eldest daughter of refugee parents, a speaker, and a weight loss coach who helps women of color (WOC) lose weight and break out of following racist diet culture rules. Her work was inspired by her 11-year weight loss journey where she felt the need to strip her cultural identity to fit into society's standard of "white healthy" aka the Western Diet. After healing her relationship with food, her mission is to voice the cultural differences in the weight loss industry to empower women of color (WOC) to reclaim control over their bodies and encourage them to embrace foods from their cultural backgrounds without shame. As a health advocate for her community, Samantha has accrued over 1500+ coaching hours, guiding numerous clients to heal their relationship with food rooted in their culture, boost confidence, reduce stress, get stronger, and enhance their overall well-being by improving blood work during their annual physical exams. Her mission is to continue decolonizing health and diet approaches that do not work for marginalized communities so they can live a sustainable healthy lifestyle. Get ready to win for once by reclaiming your plate with your cultural foods, reconnect back to your body and remember your roots. On this podcast, you will finally lose weight for good and get out of the dieting cycle that longer serves you so you can live the life you want. You’ll be able to heal your relationship with food, eat the foods you love guilt-free, and stop shaming yourself when you look in the mirror and create generational health. You know that scale that changes your mood every morning? You’ll no longer let it control you. You're worthy no matter what the number is and I'll show you how to detach from it while seeing the weight come off. Together, we’ll help you figure out what’s truly been holding you back from going all in. It’s your turn to put yourself first because you deserve happiness, a healthy body and transformational mind. 163. 3 Signs You're Mentally Quitting On Your Weight Loss and How To Overcome It

Before you stop working out and eating better, you mentally check out first. You start to believe your excuses, you tweak your weight loss plan to add more workouts or put less food on your plate, only to find that no matter what you do... the momentum is slowing down. I call this mentally quitting AND there are signs. In this week's episode, I share 3 signs you experience and how to overcome them so you can stop being in this on and off energy. The more you get to know how your brain tries to sabotage your hard work, the quicker you can redirect it to create the sustainable healthy habits you want to keep the weight off for good.In this episode, you will learn how to: 1️⃣ Identify WHEN you're believing your excuses instead of finding solutions for it and learn how to challenge thoughts like “I don’t have enough time”2️⃣ Avoid making drastic changes to your routine that makes you not consistent3️⃣ Not be in "well see if it happens" energy when it comes to your weight loss goal because tbh.. that's not how you will be intentional or set yourself up for success. In this episode, I am welcoming Dr. Alyssa Vang, a licensed psychologist and mental health advocate for the Hmong community. With over 20 years of clinical experience, Dr. Vang has worked extensively in trauma-focused therapy and early childhood mental health. 160. Stop "Making Up" for Missed Workouts and Do This Instead

Did you miss a workout and now you're trying to make yourself feel better by adding extra days to make up for it? In this episode, I am going to share how you can bounce back into your workout routine without trying to make up for it and how to shift your mindset to long-term consistency. Because the truth is, you aren't just going to workout to lose weight, you will be working out for the rest of your life to keep the weight off and be healthy— so the WAY you approach missed workouts will need to be sustainable. Here are the key takeaways from this episode: The two biggest mindset traps that keep you stuck after missing a workout How to identify why you missed it (this is key otherwise you will just be in the same cycle of missing it again and again!) Why scheduling workouts ahead of time helps you stay consistent How to create a flexible, sustainable workout routine that fits your life Apply for 1:1 Coaching: Ready to lose 10-20 pounds while eating foods you love? 159. How To Be Consistent in 2025 To Lose Weight

I'm gonna say it... 2025 is the year you stay consistent to lose the mf weight you want lol. I am so serious. In this episode, I break down how you can stay consistent with your workouts AND meals by focusing on the things that matter. Not what the typical fitness influencers are doing or the Ozempic girlies to shortcut this weight loss process because that's not gonna keep the weight off. Here's what to expect in this episode: Why relying solely on motivation doesn’t work and how habits build long-term consistency. Your body doesn't care about the “perfect” workouts and meals How your old weight loss plan is sabotaging your progress and what to do instead. Weight loss strategies that I go over: Creating short, effective workouts you can actually stick to. Enjoying cultural foods while losing weight. Using tools like DoorDash in a way that supports your goals. Apply for 1:1 Coaching: Ready to lose 10-20 pounds while eating foods you love? 158. Updates From 2024 and Welcome To Reclaim Your Plate

In Q3 of 2024, I got this intuitive hit to change my podcast name to accurately reflect the work I do today & my values. I realized that every single client I’ve worked with & those of you who listen to the podcast every week had this similar theme of reconnecting back to your body because of the food on your plate (bye to western diets that doesn’t allow you to eat your cultural foods). And it finally clicked! The title reclaim your plate came to my heart and I instantly fell in love with it. THIS was how I was able to have a winning weight loss journey. It was also how my clients were able to do the same too. Reclaiming my plate allowed me to reconnect back to my body (after being disconnected from it thru all the diets I’ve done) and remember my roots.I hope you love the new podcast name as much as I do and just know Your Winning Journey (the old podcast name) will always be in my heart and it is a byproduct of me giving myself permission to eat Hmong food again. Go subscribe to the updated podcast and just know I am grateful for you! Let’s Work Together: Join 1:1 coaching (3 month OR 6 month option) where you lose 10-20 pounds and keep it off eating your cultural foods. No dieting. No restricting. This program is designed to help you be the most consistent you’ve ever been and feel confident in your skin again.
