    Junji Ito

    Hi everyone, welcome to the 18th episode of Recomendies! We have our third book-focused episode, and this is a topic I've been looking forward to talking about. Today, I discuss the horror manga icon Junji Ito, author and artist extraordinaire. I give a little bit on his background, a brief definition and history of manga, and visit my middle school Goodreads page. I also discuss my own feelings on the horror genre and why it seems so interesting to me. I know it's June, so spooky season is not nigh, but I think any season can be spooky season if you believe hard enough. Thank you for listening and keep an eye out for more episodes in the future!

    Our Favorite Video Games with Matthew Peters

    Hi everyone! Welcome to episode 17 of Recomendies. Today, we did something a little different. No Wikis were visited and no critic or audience receptions were researched. Instead, I and my brother Matt decided to list some of our top 5 video games of all time and go into why they are our favorites. This is a beefy one, but I think the conversation more than makes up for the length. We talk about everything from big budget superhero games to smaller projects that delve into the meaning of art and the relationship between creator and consumer. Who knows, maybe we'll suggest you one of YOUR top five games! SPOILERS WARNING If you want to avoid spoilers for The Last of Us: Part II and Uncharted 4, skip to 16:45 when prompted. I really really urge you to avoid this part of the episode if you aren't familiar with these games or their stories (Alex Walkon I am talking to you (also check out Closing The Gap (Year) if you haven't!))

    Hi everyone! Welcome to the sixteenth episode of Recomendies! Today, join me as I talk about one of my favorite video game series' of all time: Uncharted. The globe-trotting, swashbuckling, pulse-pounding adventure games truly did revolutionize the landscape of video games, and if you've played them you can surely see why. I'll discuss the people who play the beloved characters in Uncharted, the studio that created it, and also give my own personal top five favorite video games.     Hi everyone! Welcome to the 15th episode of Recomendies, the first to focus on a Youtube channel! Today, we take a look at Geowizard, a channel featuring gaming, mischief, adventure, good music, and just overall cozy vibes. We'll discuss what the channel is, why I like it so much, and why I think you should to. Tom Davies really is a wizard when it comes to geography, and it turns out he's pretty darn good at the whole Youtube thing too.

    Good Time

    Hi everyone, welcome to the 14th episode of Recomendies! Today, we take a look at the pulse-pounding, adrenaline fueled thrill ride that is Good Time, directed by the always fantastic Safdie Brothers. Join me to learn more about the Safdie brothers' past and future projects, as well as looking at Robert Pattinson's career arc as an actor so far. We also visit an old nemesis, Rex Reed, and discuss why he seems to dislike the films that I really like. Finally, the episode wraps up with a comparison of Connie, the protagonist in Good Time to John Wick, the protagonist in John Wick. In the words of that one guy in Wreck-It Ralph, "Just because you are a bad guy, does not mean you are bad guy." Spoilers: Connie is definitely a bad guy.     American Vandal

    Hi everyone! Welcome to the thirteenth episode of Recomendies. The ole baker's dozen, and what a topic I have for you. Join me and myself as we discuss the Netflix crime mockumentary series, American Vandal. If you're interested in true crime but find the subject matter of murder and kidnapping too depressing, American Vandal might just be perfect for you. Follow two high schoolers as they answer the questions on everybody's mind: Who drew the dicks? I also discuss the decisions behind cancelling shows, as we all know how frustrating that can be.     Grateful Dead with Ben Schuster

    Hello everybody! Welcome to episode 12 of Recomendies, the podcast about media and entertainment. I am joined today once again by Ben Schuster, as we tackle perhaps one of the most infamous bands in American history: the Grateful Dead. We discuss the origins of the band, their infamous fanbase, and the impact they've had on each of our own lives. If you are interested in listening, Ben made a Spotify playlist which I think is a great starting point for getting into their music. You know what they say, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. I'm not sure which is which in this scenario, or if that saying is even applicable.
