    Episode 88- The Abyss (1989)

    Episode 88- The Abyss (1989)

Ed Harris and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio are formerly married petroleum engineers who still have some issues to work out. They are drafted to assist a gung-ho Navy SEAL (Michael Biehn) with a top-secret recovery operation: a nuclear sub has been ambushed and sunk, under mysterious circumstances, in some of the deepest waters on Earth.

We get our feet wet with this late 80's sci-fi staple. This is a favorite that host Jack very much enjoys and was super eager to share it with us.  We discuss the history of the filming, which reported accounts say was a nightmare.  The early CGI and a wonderful score by a talented individual, Alan Silvestri.  Ed Harris gives a wonderful performance and we can't forget Michael Biehn being super crazy!  But we can't forget that Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio is the "bitch" that we all love to remember.  So suit up Reel Feels fans and get ready to dive deep... into The Abyss.

What Are You Watching? Part 1

In this "in between" episodes upload, we'll cover our usual "What Are You Watching?" discussion that we've done on our normal episodes.  We talk shop on our movie viewings, tv series and maybe a documentary or two.  Nathan might chime in with what board games he's been trying and we can always count on host Jack to give us an update on his current gaming on his Xbox.

We also want to hear from YOU, our Reelest of fans, on what you're watching! Any recommendations? Challenges?  Call the Tucc Line and let us know!

We're happy to have our "first" Patreon episode of Season 4: Fellowship of the Feels.  One of the newest members to the Reel Feels Patreon Family, Mario, has chosen a film that he truly has the feels for and is dead set on having us review. 1996's "Sleepers" is... whew... heavy is probably the only word for it.  There's no denying the talent of the cast, the writing is well done and even the music by podcast favorite John Williams.  But man, oh man, this was a rough watch due to the subject matter.  Still Mario brought to some of us a first time watch and we're always excited to see what our patrons have in store for us.

    Episode 86- Liar Liar (1997)

    Episode 86- Liar Liar (1997)

Conniving attorney Fletcher Reede (Jim Carrey) is an ace in the courtroom, but his dishonesty and devotion to work ruin his relationships. His wife, Audrey (Maura Tierney), has left him for a more dependable man, and Fletcher often breaks the commitments he makes to his beloved son, Max (Justin Cooper). When Max wishes his dad would stop lying for 24 hours, Fletcher suddenly finds that he can only speak the truth -- on the day his career-deciding court case has to be won.

Let's head on back to 90's for what can be considered the peak of comedy for Jim Carrey!  The Reel Feels guys are gushing nostalgia with this film from the physical comedy, the quotable lines, and of course... Jennifer Tilly.  This one brings back a lot of memories and most of them are filled with laughter. The guys discuss the possible alternates who could've played Fletcher, the music and the supporting cast as well.  This movie definitely still holds up for Reel Feels. What about you?

Good Natured Fun

Here is the beauty of Reel Feels - the hosts take films that I am very familiar with, yet I don’t necessarily enjoy or look back on with nostalgia, and still make listening to their conversation about it incredibly fun and engaging. Now that is accomplished mostly by busting each other’s chops in a good-natured way and distilling down the fun and absurdity of what is happening on the screen and tying it in to their own numerous stories and lives. By choosing genres at random and having a “grab bag style” selection of films, every week always brings an interesting and unexpected listening experience. Some podcasts cover movies, other podcasts are just plain fun- Reel Feels delivers both. Thanks Drew, Nathan & Jack.

Fantastic Movie Show!

I laughed a lot listening to these folks as they dug into some of my favorite films (and some I'd never seen). I started way back with Two Towers and continued through the festival of hilarity to Indiana Jones, Patch Adams, and more. If you need a fun movie-centered podcast, Reel Feels is for you. You'll laugh. You'll probably shake your fist at the sky gods. And in the end, you'll feel fulfilled!
