Reflections with Baze Mpinja

I agree with the previous reviewer—these podcasts would be engrossing even to someone who hasn’t the slightest interest in beauty! The writing and pace, the background provided, the cool guests speaking in such a natural way, and Baze’s voice and natural style of interviewing—I think it’s only a matter of time before we see her climbing the podcast charts.

I am not a beauty girl at all and would not consider myself particularly interested in this topic, but this podcast makes everything about the beauty industry and beauty culture in America so compelling and interesting. The episodes are fairly short, but the content is deep and thought-provoking in a way I would have never expected from a beauty podcast, of which I’m sure there are dozens. The interview subjects they choose to talk to are extremely knowledgeable and interesting—usually people who work behind the scenes to make icons and iconic imagery and who have a lot of insight into powerhouses of pop culture, sports, politics, etc. And the host is an excellent interviewer who brings the best, juiciest stories out of her interviewees. Can’t recommend this enough as a lighthearted, fun listen that still gives you something to chew on.
