Dave Pisani, Barry Kay and Tod Pleasant have teamed up to create the Regular Joes Podcast, a show that will focus on various aspects of the things they love most, movies, toys, sci-fi, tv shows, comics, collecting, and much more. Each episode will feature subjects such as the cool vehicles and props from classic movies and tv show, the movie you would want to have with you if you were stranded on a desert island as well as new or notable items the guys have added to their varied collections. Special celebrity guests will stop by from time-to-time to provide their input as well. There's no end to the useless stuff they know, but don’t call them Geeks, they're just Regular Joes!
Episode 383: Falcon and the Winter Snoozer
When Disney+ announced the first round of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) based series, WandaVision seemed like a bizarre, niche sort of venture, whereas Falcon and the Winter Soldier seemed like the no brainer. Perhaps we forgot about Iron Man II, Thor the Dark World, Age of Ultron and Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2. In the MCU sometimes the follow up efforts don’t land quite as well as their predecessors. Halfway through the six episode series the Regular Joes check in on Captain America’s former sidekicks and see how they are fairing in a post Cap MCU. There’s a lot of bickering, pointless diversions, several bad choices, and at least one dude who needs therapy badly. Yes, we’re still talking about Falcon and the Winter Soldier, not the Regular Joes themselves. Who will end up with the shield? Can the Shrimp business be saved? And, perhaps most importantly, with everything we have seen so far why is the internet obsessed with dancing Zemo? And , do we really care? The Joes also get caught up on other recent news from Disney +. And, of course, there’s also Random Topics and What’s in the Box. Thanks for listening!
Episode 382: Nimoy’s Tootsie Pop
This week the Regular hosts plus semi-Regular Brian Mix head back into space. First they take a look at For All Mankind, the show almost no one is talking about on the Apple streaming service that almost no one remembers is a thing. For All Mankind explores an alternate timeline where interest in the space program dd not wane following the Apollo missions and the space race continued to be a flashpoint in the Cold War. Also, there’s a lot of personal baggage. Having built a Tricorder himself, as well actually laying hands on one of two original 1960’s era props, Brian is also the Regular Joes resident Tricorder expert. So this week they check in on the progress of the Wand company’s Star Trek original series Tricorder project. Long in the works, this prop replica completes the set with their previously produced Phaser and Communicator, and promises to be the most accurate replica, particularly in regards to size, released to date. Oh, and If you don’t know about “the sticky spot” you will. There’s also some Random Topics, a serving of What’s in the Box with a scoop of What’s on my Workbench on the side. Thanks for Listening!
Episode 381: Why is it so Square?
It’s finally here! The single most hyped entertainment experience of the last year has arrived. FOUR FREAKING HOURS of a film you probably never wanted to sit through again. Zach Snyder’s Justice League (not to be confused with Justice League 2017) is so long they needed to call in an additional Joe to cover it. With Brian Mix on deck, the team break down Snyder’s epic, expensive, and unprecedented act of cinematic redemption. Does it live up to the Hype? Well, frankly no. Nothing could. Is it worth investing another four hours of your life? Opinions vary. Like, really, really, vary. We can pretty much guarantee, where ever you come down on this version there is a Regular Joe who shares your perspective. There’s also the usual Random topics and the rare "Joe's Choice" segment where the hosts talk about pretty much whatever they want . . . wait, isn’t the that theme of the podcast? Thanks for Listening!
Episode 380: The Whedon Cut
With the “Snyder Cut” aka Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the long awaited, fan demanded, true to its original director’s vision (or is it revision?) version just days from release the Regular Joes decided four hours of Justice League was not enough. At Barry’s suggestion they all rewatched the original 2017 film. WARNING: rewatching this film may cause nausea, headaches, general malaise, and or trigger seizures. While it is impossible to imagine the original film getting any worse, is it possible it has gotten better with age? The Joes go there so you don’t have to. Because some people feel there is still room in the world for a Superman who is not all dark and angsty, this season the CW and Greg Berlanti (the guy who produces everything on the CW) have given us Superman and Lois., the story of Supergirl’s previously lesser known cousin and his family. Is it good? Two of the Joes who are otherwise abstaining from the Arrowverse are on board ... at least for now. Listen in to find out why. As per usual there’s also Random Topics and What’s in the Box Thanks for listening!
Episode 379: Wanda, Wanda, Wanda!
So if you have not been watching WandaVision along with the Regular Joes the good news is this will be the last week you have to listen to them talk about it ... for a while at least. If you have been watching you also know that 95% of their theories proved to be as far off the mark as, well, pretty much everyone else’s. Seriously how much fun would if been if they’d actually had it figured out. There’s also a Hot Toys minute where they talk about wait for it ... new Scarlet Witch and Vision figures. Note Both the Random Topics and What’s in the Box segments are 100% Wanda free. So that’s something. Thanks for listening!
Episode 378: Three Guys Walk Into a Zoom ...
This week, like most, the Regular Joe’s got together and talked. At some point they got around to hitting the record button and that part, for better or worse, is preserved for posterity, and for you. Unless this is your first episode you’ll be unsurprised to hear they talked about stuff they’ve been watching, and stuff they look forward to seeing. There were also various references to Tom Cruise running (Random Topics). And, unless you have somehow managed to miss the last year they talk a bit about events that are not quite ready to resume as normal and at least one that will. Again, no great surprise, they also bought stuff this week (What’s In The Box) and they’ll tell you about that. And then even more stuff (RJ Picks) that, if you are as susceptible to suggestion as the Joe’s are you will probably end up buying as well. Lastly, because we are eight weeks into Marvel’s demonstration that there really are no hard and fast rules to how you spin a superhero yarn, they talk about the penultimate episode of WandaVison, or as the entire freakin internet calls it #WANDAVISION. Thanks for listening . . . and if you get a minute check out Barry’s Iron Man pictures and all the others at RegularJoes.com. They do this all for you. And not “you” in the general sense. We mean “you” personally. They are just those kinda guys.

One Stop Geek Shop!
Full Disclosure: These dudes are my friends. So I may be biased. Except that they became friends due to the shared interests we all share, so really, every episode they're speaking my language, and therefore if you're here looking for a podcast about all things Pop Culture, movies, tv, comics, toys, etc, then they're speaking your language too.
This is a highly entertaining show where Dave, Barry and Tod (and sometimes others) discuss in great detail the coolest new stuff, including entertainment news, reviews of new shows, old shows, movies that are getting great buzz, and verdicts on whether or not they deserve it.
What's in the Box? They talk about items they bought recently.
What's on the Bench? They talk about projects they are currently working on, because as knowledgable as the three are, they are also hugely talented in their own right, creating items, model kits, painting, prop replicas, all manner of creative endeavors.
Really, what more can you want? One a day? Yeah, well that's not gonna happen. So we're happy enough with one a week.
THE Source for EVERYTHING you like
This podcast encompasses everything in geek culture. The personalities of the three hosts drive the show, while the content makes it a “must listen.” If you like comics, movies, toys, collecting, super heroes, and TV shows, you need to give this a listen.
To boldly review...
After listening to Episode 239, I was inspired to write a review of the podcast. It was a lot of fun taking a trip down memory lane and hearing about some of the highlights from the past five years.
I’ve enjoyed listening to every episode (Star Trek V live commentary was kind of rough ;-), since I started a couple of years ago. The banter between the three of you has been as enjoyable, if not more, than the content of the episodes themselves. I look forward every Friday morning to listening to a new episode as I drive to work.
Here’s to another five years! Gregg P.
