Trash

As a fan of Serial, I was excited about this podcast when I first heard about it. I listened to three episodes - which was generous - before stopping. It’s clearly one-sided and anti-law enforcement. The naive host, Annie, accepts anything the criminals say as truth while insinuating the police just want to kill Hispanics and African Americans. Notice how all of her interviews are with people locked-up, for the offenses in question, or in the case of the fourteen year old (at the time of the shooting) another crime. They are gang members and career criminals, and just about everything they say is untruthful. If you hate police, this podcast will be enjoyable to you. But anyone else should avoid it, because you’ll just become annoyed. Don’t waste the approximately three hours I did. I did find one part comical though In the first episode when the main criminal in the story says something to the effect of, “Why would I be carrying a gun? I was on probation.” This was in almost the same sentence as admitting to burglarizing somebody’s home. Haha! Dirtbags.

Good content, okay journalist.

I really enjoyed learning about this case and listening to the perspectives of the people who committed the crime, but I did not think that the journalist conducted her interviews in a professional manner. It didn't matter who she was speaking to, not once did she change her tone. Although I understand conducting interviews is difficult I have heard podcasts where you can tell the journalist knows how to communicate with all walks of life in order to get the information they want with an unbiased tone.
