    Have you made peace with all the women you once were? In this episode, I reflect on my journey as a Gen X woman approaching my 50th trip around the sun. I share some nostalgic memories (those both fond and cringey), cultural influences, and the unique challenges faced by Gen Xers. Emotional resilience is the ability to adapt to life’s stressors with purpose, allowing for personal growth - without resorting to wine, sugar, carbs, doomscrolling and the rest - because those behaviours don’t solve the problem; they hold you back and keep you stuck where you are rather than where you want to be. I believe that developing emotional resilience, strengthening our emotional muscle, is the key to helping women in midlife break out of problematic holding patterns. I also believe that our emotional resilience changes in different life phases. Where you might have felt resilient in one phase, you might reach midlife feeling emotionally threadbare. I know what it cost me and what it costs my clients when emotional resilience is lacking. But luckily emotional muscle-building is something we all have the capacity to do!
