After shutting down the idea of talking to an inmate, I realize the problem isn’t him anymore, it’s the fact that the thought of him won’t leave me alone. What starts as curiosity slowly turns into tension, awareness, denial, and a prison full of people noticing before I’m willing to admit it myself.
