J Mac Watch: Are PTSD, OCD and ADHD 'Noble Lies?"

J Mac Watch: Are PTSD, OCD and ADHD 'Noble Lies?"

John MacArthur recently did a Q and A and went on record saying that PTSD, OCD and ADHD were noble lies made up to sell pharmaceutical drugs. This twitter clip of this received 4.2 million views as of this recording.
Everyone has sounded off on this. Restless joins in the fray to point out where J Mac is right to be skeptical of our therapeutic unspiritual culture, but that denying the reality of brain and physiological issues is not the way forward.

TGC's Origin Story Part 1- What is the Gospel?

We walk through the Origins of the Gospel Coalition- This time we walk through where the idea of being gospel centered or being prophetic from the center comes from. It stems from a talk D.A. Carson gave at the inagural TGC conference called "What is the Gospel?"
We reflect on what we all liked then and what is different now.Link to the Talk

Mark Driscoll (sort of) Calls Out Mega Church Madness??

Mark Driscoll (sort of) Calls Out Mega Church Madness??

Last weekend Mark Driscoll made a splash at a large Mega Church Men's Conference. Congratulations to the original tweeter who went viral with it.
As you can guess more to the story continued to come out. You will have to decide if Mark Driscoll is going to be a folk hero or a he is actually the mega church stunt.

Great show

The algorithm recently brought this show to me after the DW/KDY kerfuffle and then I have binged a lot of episodes, and these guys do a great job dissecting the YRR movement and have a lot of great content on a number of issues. Even when I don’t agree with everything they say (especially as a reformed Baptist), they are fun to listen to and have a lot of great insights.

Restless

Edifying show looking at the young restless and reformed movement by two guys who went through it and gradually moved to a reformed confessional position.

Self Righteous Mindset

I think these guys provided some thoughtful insight on Mark Driscoll and the extra Biblical liberties Driscoll is expositing during his preaching.

But… to label him “not a good man” is not warranted and another extra Biblical liberty that is at best, self righteous judgmentalism, if not, sinful slander. Evangelical Christians like to label people good and evil, and do so in a flippant manner. It is a Catholic mindset that has subliminally infiltrated the pews. We are beggars all.

Pretty sure Driscoll would even admit he is not a good man, apart from Christ. It would be a ballsy move for these guys to actually interview Mark, rather than sit in their watchtower and criticize.

Driscoll is indeed deserving of criticism, but so are we all. We should really be more measured and gracious in how we go about it.
