    Forrest, Liam, and Numbers review The Backrooms (2026), Kane Parsons' transition from viral YouTube horror shorts to full feature film. The verdict is genuinely mixed across the board. Everyone found things to love and things to criticize, the atmosphere mostly lands, and Kane's age became its own conversation. A fun, slightly divided episode on one of the most hyped horror films of 2026.

    Forrest and Liam review Obsession (2026), Curry Barker's breakout horror film starring Inde Navarrette and Michael Johnston. Shot in 20 days on $750,000, it's already one of the most talked-about indie horror films in years... and we loved it. We dig into Inde Navarrette's terrifying performance, Curry Barker's direction, and get into a debate about the complicated nature of Bear as a character.

The crew mostly loved it, with both leads delivering what might be top 5 performances of their respective careers. They also briefly touch on the controversy surrounding the director and whether it colors the viewing experience.

    The Retconnd crew goes full Charli XCX this episode. Forrest, Liam, and Maria review The Moment (2026), the A24 mockumentary where Charli plays a chaotic fictionalized version of herself and they loved it. Then they turn to Wuthering Heights (2026), Emerald Fennell's divisive literary adaptation featuring Charli's original soundtrack, which might be the only thing they had nice things to say about it.

    This week we split the episode in half: Avatar: Fire and Ash — incredible visuals, very mixed feelings on the story. Iron Lung — an ambitious horror adaptation that didn’t quite land for us.
