    Although the first degree program in music therapy in America was developed by Michigan State University in 1944, music was already being used for healing purposes in the late 1700s, more than 200 years ago. It has been proven that music therapy reduces anxiety and the physical effects of stress. It improves healing, helps manage Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease, reduce depression and the symptoms of psychological disorders, and improves self-expression and communication. Joining us today is Roxanne Christian, to tell us more about this fascinating healing technique and its multiple benefits. She is a talented music therapist who graduated from Berklee College of Music with a BA in Music Therapy and the Founder and Owner of Live Love Life Music.     When we communicate, words aren't the most important part of our message; they are actually the least influential part of what we say. Humans give and receive unconscious statements that express much more than the words spoken, such as facial expressions, gestures, tone of voice, touch, or eye contact, to name a few. Today, we explore the role of body language in communication, and we learn to use the ability to read unconscious expressions of emotions to convert more clients. We go through the Phineas Gage case, the accident that changed his life, and how it helped scientists understand more about brain functions and human behavior. We also talk about how hard it is to hide our feelings, which is why learning about body language is the closest tool to a lie detector we can acquire.     During our childhood, when our minds are not fully developed, we can't distinguish between right and wrong, so we accept everything people say to us as truth. For instance, negative remarks will solidify as core beliefs in a child's mind, and they will get in the way of that child's normal development, goal achieving, and personal growth. In this episode, the last of 2021, we talk about our beliefs. We explore and understand how limiting beliefs grow in our minds; we learn to identify them, look for their root cause, and eliminate them. We delve into the power limiting beliefs can have in our lives and the effects of having limiting beliefs transformed into core beliefs. We also go through a step by step of identifying limiting beliefs, the questions that will help us do it, and what we need to do to change or eliminate them. I also share an example of a limiting belief I had for many years, how I identified it and took it out of my system.
