    Rewiring Mental Health Stigmas

    When Allison Raskin was young and diagnoses with OCD, her dad told her to hide it. Now at 32, Alison has built a career off of having OCD. Allison Raskin is a New York Times bestselling author, actress, director, and co-creator of the YouTube comedy channel and podcast Just Between Us, which she shares with her comedy partner, Gaby Dunn. Gaby and Allison’s I Hate Everyone But You quickly became a bestseller and was optioned at Netflix. The sequel, Please Send Help… was published on July 16, 2019, and quickly earned a position on The 20 Best LGBTQ Books of 2019 by Harper’s Bazaar. She has become a figure in the mental health community in part due to her very successful Instagram account @emotionalsupportlady which has most recently launched as a Substack by the same name and is currently getting an MA in Psychology from Pepperdine University to supplement her work in the mental health space.  Allison joins Marsha & Erica in this encore episode from May 2022 to talk about social media and being online, navigating healthy relationships, and dating with mental illness, the topic of her newest book Overthinking About You: Navigating Romantic Relationships When You Have Anxiety, OCD, and/or Depression which is out now!

Rose and Genevieve have been making Chinese herbal soups in their kitchens all their lives. They made broths to help their bodies adapt to the seasons, and now, for the first time, they’re translating these traditional recipes—all of which have been vetted by Dr. Shiu Hon Chui, a preeminent TCM doctor, researcher, and professor—into English. Rose is a mother and entrepreneur, inheriting her fondness for soup from her mother who raised her in a very traditional Chinese family in Hong Kong. Dave Anderson is a seasoned chef with a knack for transforming plant-based ingredients into masterpieces of bold flavor and tantalizing texture. His wizardry in the kitchen has drawn regulars like Bill Gates, Paul McCartney, and Ellen Degeneres to his award-winning California restaurant. You could say he's kind of a big deal. After being named “Best plant-based restaurant in Los Angeles," Dave moved to sharing his talents with the masses by leading product development for Beyond Meat, where he produced plant-based products so bold they’re sold in the grocery store meat aisle (perhaps you’ve heard of the Beyond Burger?). He also co-founded Hampton Creek, furthering his dream of making great-tasting plant-based foods available to everyone.
