    The Science Behind the Water We Drink Here in Bermuda

    In this episode, Carrie Lee sits down with water management specialist Tarik Smith, founder of Koom Consulting, for a conversation that will make every Bermudian look at their tank differently. From bacteria and heavy metals lurking in tank sediment, to the real cost of roof and tank maintenance, Tarik breaks down the science in plain language — and shares practical, affordable steps you can take today to protect your family's drinking water.    Tarik Smith, founder of Koom Consulting, is an Environmental Consultant and water management specialist with over 25 years of experience as a researcher, educator, technical consultant and water engineer. Before establishing Koom, he worked for several years as an environmental consultant and field technician in Bermuda. Since then, based in Barcelona, he has worked in projects spanning Europe, East and West Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and serves as a research fellow for international institutions including UNESCOSOST and EURECAT in Catalunya, Spain. Tarik holds a BSc in Environmental Sciences and an MSc in Environmental Consulting and Water Engineering and regularly consults, teaches and conducts research in Bermuda with BEST, BIOS, Bermuda College and BUEI, among other local entities.
