Okay, so I’ve only been able to listen to your episode on Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” this far, BUT, I’m now an official fan of this podcast. 5 stars easily. Interesting, super fun, educating, and laid back, yet condensed to still give you a lot of great info where it may take hours via another format. I’ll be listening to more, but I figured my review title was appropriate, even though I AM saying it with happiness/enthusiasm, not broken hallelujah for this review. Host(s) are honestly some of the easiest podcast hosts to which I listen, and it’s the perfect length for podcasts, especially when the awesome info is so good. Thanks for making this one, y’all!
TO LISTENERS:
I will say, though, if you’ve ever felt the song, Hallelujah, hit your heart (if you haven’t, what are you even doing with your life?), and if you’re just now finding this gem of a podcast, I recommend it as a starting point. Especially if you’ve ever felt like your hallelujah is broken. I’m here to say there’s beauty in the broken, and in the many ways the word can be used, particularly to give praise, even though this song references events in the Bible/Christianity (or at least the OT), it’s not specifically written for Christians or as a Christian (Cohen himself was Jewish and dabbled in other religions, Buddhism, etc, but always mentioned he was Jewish when asked. I don’t want to ruin anything else you may hear, here, so put on this episode and enjoy the catharsis. AND, listen to how the podcast suggests listening to the song, and what version is the most recognized and generally regarded as the best by pros and fans alike.
