I am so excited for this nearly finished Powered by the Apocalypse game, I think it is going to be a tier one example under that now very wide design umbrella/school/family.
These players are enjoyable to listen to and of course it’s exciting that they include the very illustrator of this upcoming, Kickstarted game. The story is getting its hooks into me and their tone thus far matches well what is being described as a “hearth fantasy.”
Being a backer, I have gotten to know the source game material pretty well, and because there is not much player content out there yet for this very close, but not quite yet fully released game, I do wish they were sticking a little more closely to the setting content and leaning a little more into the PbtA framework of play with moves rather than leaning back into the comfortable DND framework of calling for ability checks, in my listening so far anyway, but that is more my personal preference as someone who wants to really dive into the unique crunch, and is less important for the storytelling this actual play is trying to accomplish. I know every game master and table likes to tinker, so I don’t begrudge them that.
Overall, it’s very enjoyable so far and I’m very glad they are sharing this with us and look forward to continuing episodes!
