I will never trust the word “trusted” again ...

I’ve been binge-listening this podcast - I started December 17th, it’s now January 6th, and I’m just starting Episode 85/Augustulus - and I absolutely love it. I’ve been fascinated with Roman history since I was a child, and I’m also an alumna of Mike Duncan’s History of Rome, so I really enjoy Rob and Jamie’s fresh yet hilarious take on the topic. I laugh every time Rob says that someone is a “trusted” individual because that rarely bodes well for whoever’s doing the trusting. I also laugh every time “Roger” shows up to cheerfully deliver terrible news. Oh, dear. Rob and Jamie’s infectious giggling - uh, I mean, manly laughter - also make each episode so much fun. Pupianus, anyone? And through it all, I’m learning a lot! Thanks, guys! (P.S. - I also love American Presidents!)

Informative and Funny

I love this podcast! I think that this (and Totalus Rankium American Presidents) are the best historical podcasts out there. I think that it is very important to learn about ancient history and also more recent history. If we learn and continue to learn, eventually we can achieve amazing things that were never thought possible. I also love the light heartedness of this podcast because it makes this podcast easy to listen to.

Keep up the good work!

P.S. Can you guys upload more often?

Best podcast on the Emperors of Rome

I have listened to “The History of Rome”, “History of Byzantium”, “Life of Caesar” and Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History episode about the fall of the Republic. This review covers both the Emperor and Republic episodes. The narratives are fun and engaging, and Jeff, Roger, and the death-gong guy are GREAT characters. Roger is the beat though, always cheerful! Roger for president 2020! I have binge listened every Emperor, Republic, Presidents, and Whiskey episode in 7 weeks! Why? Because I have no life, but also because these two hosts, Rob and Jaime, make the history of Rome fun, funny, and familiar. From Augustus to Constantine the 11th, these dead Romans feel like old friends by the end. I am very excited to see what comes next with the Macedonian dynasty and would love to know what History Dog thinks the beat dynasty in Roman History was. Please do move on to the not so Holy, very German, halfway decent Empire after the Byzantines. I hope Jaime has at least started to like the Roman Emperors after nearly 3 years! Rob, congrats on good sound equipment after nearly 3 years of recording 😝 keep up with the funny American and Australian accents you crazy whiskey drinking Englishmen! Btw, your end of episode skits and movie setups are the best, especially when a character breaks the fourth-wall and winks! Written on an annoying Iphone after correcting 400 typos, this review was written by history nerd- AK2. Cheeers!
