    Shift The Focus: A Conversation about Body Neutrality

    Today, on our seventh episode of the season, we get the pleasure of talking about body neutrality and nutrition on BC’s campus with Christina Karalolos and Katie Gustamachio! Christina is a Registered Dietitian, BC Dining's Administrative Dietitian, and a Nutritionist. So, if you are looking for any help navigating the dining halls, look no further! Katie G is a Registered Dietitian with University Health Services and specializes in supporting individuals navigating disordered eating. They are both incredible resources that BC students can take advantage of during their time here.

    The Value of Mindfulness

    So today, on our sixth episode of the season, we get the pleasure of talking about mindfulness and the upcoming 4-week mindfulness workshop on campus through the MIEA, or Mindfulness Institute for Emerging Adults. That workshop will be co-run by one of our own at MCSW, Judy Oxford!  Judy is the Associate Director and oversees the substance misuse prevention education and recovery services within the Center for Student Wellness. Not only is she a licensed mental health counselor, but she is also a certified yoga instructor and a certified mindfulness instructor through MIEA.

    In our fifth episode of the season, we get the pleasure of sitting down with Molly Maher, Boston College Emergency Medical Services (EMS) E-Board member and Murray Center for Student Wellness (MCSW) wellness coach as she talks about caring for the whole community, especially in times of vulnerability.

    Bridging the Gap with Dr. Douglas Comeau

    In our fourth episode of the season, we get the pleasure of learning about the newly established Murray Center for Student Wellness, that is enhancing student health and wellness services at BC through additional staffing, education, and training, and increasing access to mental health counseling for all students, thanks to a generous gift from BC alumna, parent, and benefactor Tami Murray. The Murray Center's goal is to integrate campus health and wellness programs. It has placed University Health Services (UHS), UCS, Sports Medicine, and the existing Center for Student Wellness under the umbrella of the Murray Center, and works closely with the Dean’s Office in Student Affairs to provide timely support to students in need.  The center is directed by Dr. Douglas Comeau, associate vice president, Murray Center for Student Wellness, who had previously served as director of University Health Services and Primary Care Sports Medicine. And we are so lucky to have Doug with us today to discuss everything there is to know about the Murray Center!

    Finding the Strength Within with Wellness Coaches Ally and Sydney

    On our third episode of the season, we get the pleasure of discussing one of our office's main programs, Wellness Coaching! Wellness coaching is an evidence-based and solution-focused conversation structured around the changes that you want to make in your life when you are ready to make them. Each conversation is held by a trained Peer Wellness Coach who applies strategies and practical skills as they partner with you to work through lifestyle challenges and to help you reach a quality of life that is meaningful, self-sustaining, healthy, and value-driven. There is no one better to talk to you about Wellness coaching than Ally Harris, a current senior who has been a wellness coach for the past 3 academic years, and Sydney Sansbury, who is the GA in charge of organizing all of our sessions and is a trained wellness coach herself.

    One Connection Away: A Conversation on Suicide Prevention

    This episode addresses mental health and suicide prevention, education, and response, with a focus on the importance of advocacy and stigma reduction. They’ll be sharing their expertise and helping us explore the free QPR Suicide Prevention Training offered on campus.
