    The summer holidays are always tough for parents with young children, more so for solo parents, and even more so for idiots who've signed up for a half marathon. Alex navigates the logistical and emotional challenges of solo parenting over the summer holidays, and the milestone of his daughter attending pre-school. And, although the half marathon training is going well, weight loss has stalled, so Alex invests in a meal prep service to help him on his weight loss journey. After the initial shock and anger at the predatory nature of being targeted at his lowest ebb, there was a yearning intrigue. Would it be so bad to indulge in this 21st-Century necromancy? Could it give him the reassurance he's craved for more than two years? Also, Alex attempts his longest run yet in his half marathon training, 14km.     Alex's half marathon training is going well. He has completed his first 12km run, but weight loss is not coming easy. He has struggled with his weight his whole life, and a brush with mortality has made him consider getting some help from 'the jabs'.     July used to be Alex's favourite month. It was his birthday month, and the month of his fiancée Kelly's birthday. It was also the month where they celebrated their anniversary. Two years after her death, it is now a month to endure. But in order to keep Kelly's memory alive, he makes his annual pilgrimage to the coast with the kids. It is also week four of his half marathon training and he is due to run his first 10k in six years. Will he succeed? Is he losing weight?     Two years after Alex's fiancée died, his only solace has been running. Whether it's running into the countryside and weeping where no-one can see, or taking the kids with him in the double buggy. But significant weight gain has meant he's slower than ever, and can no longer run a 5k non-stop. Something needs to change, and luckily his sister Laura has offered him a challenge which could be the turning point. He signs up to run a half marathon with less than two months to prepare.
