    FAITH

What happens to our race when our faith begins to waver? In this episode of Running Our Race, I reflect on my own journey with faith going back eight years to a moment when I dropped "FAITH,” and looking at how seasons of doubt have affected the way I run my race. But I’ve also seen the opposite: when my faith is full, it pushes me to go further than I thought I could. Through Habakkuk 2:2–4, Luke 17:5–6, Hebrews 11:6, Ephesians 6:16, and the story of David and Goliath in 1 Samuel 17, we explore what it looks like to keep believing when what God has spoken seems slow in coming. Sometimes all we feel like we have is faith the size of a mustard seed, but even then, we can ask God, “Increase our faith.” I also share the heart behind the song FAITH. It wasn't written because my faith had already reached its peak. In many ways, it was prophetic, a declaration of where I wanted my faith to go. I want my “bag” to become so full of faith that I don't only have enough for my own battles, but enough to encourage and share with others. Like Peter stepping onto the water, I don't just want enough faith to step out of the boat, I want to keep my eyes on Jesus and continue walking toward Him. And like David reaching into his shepherd's bag before Goliath, I want to face what's in front of me knowing that my confidence isn't in what I carry, but in Who goes with me. "The righteous shall live by his faith." — Habakkuk 2:4 You may feel like you only have a mustard seed today. Don't throw it away. Plant it. Protect it. Exercise it. Ask God to increase it. One day, you may look inside your bag and realize He's filled it with enough faith not only to face your own giants, but to help someone else face theirs.

    The Fear of Losing

What if the fear of losing is keeping you from running the race God has called you to? In this episode of Running Our Race, we examine how fear, regret, and the pursuit of temporary success can distract us from living with eternal purpose. Through Jeremiah 8:6, we see the danger of rushing through life without stopping to examine our hearts, while Ecclesiastes 9:11 reminds us that success isn't determined by our strength, speed, or abilities. Instead, our lives are ultimately in God's hands. We'll also reflect on Psalm 19:5, which paints the picture of an athlete eager to run the race. God hasn't called us to live in fear of failure but to faithfully make the most of the time He has given us. Rather than chasing earthly gain or dwelling on what we've lost, we're invited to keep our eyes on Christ and run with joy, trusting Him with the outcome. Reflection Questions: Is the fear of losing keeping you from stepping out in faith? What temporary pursuits have distracted you from what has eternal value? If today were your last opportunity, how would you spend the time God has given you?Are you running your race with fear, or with the confidence that comes from trusting God?"Again I saw that under the sun the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong... but time and chance happen to them all." — Ecclesiastes 9:11 We can't control how long our race will be, but we can choose how we run it. Don't let the fear of losing keep you from living the life God has called you to. Run with purpose, steward your time well, and fix your eyes on what will last forever.
