Day 2008 — How I Learned To Manage My Temper In Stressful Situations

I am 2,008 days into a daily barefoot-style running streak, 20,080km into a lap of the world, and still learning how to manage myself in difficult situations. Today I talk honestly about something I have not always been good at — emotional control under pressure. The trigger was coaching my son's under-15 football team in a game that got completely out of hand due to poor officiating. The referee was not fit enough to keep pace with the game, his decisions were causing serious problems, and the situation was edging towards someone getting hurt. A few years ago I would have lost my temper entirely. Today I did not — and I want to explain why. Two frameworks that have genuinely changed how I operate are the Chimp Paradox by Dr Steve Peters and the 90/10 principle from Stephen Covey's Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. Both point to the same truth: you cannot control what happens to you, but you have full responsibility over how you respond. That ninety percent is where your character actually lives. There was also a moment on today's run where a car made a genuinely dangerous overtaking manoeuvre that left me shaken. Another reminder that the ten percent is always coming. How I respond is what I can own. This podcast is part of a mission to run 40,075km and raise £1 million for children's causes. If this episode is useful, share it. Episode 2006 — Building a Brand Without Being the Face of It

Today is day 2006 of my consecutive daily running streak. I have now covered 20,060km of a 40,075km goal — a full lap of the world on foot, in barefoot-style footwear, raising £1 million for children's causes. On today's run I worked through something that has been sitting with me as I prepare to launch version two of my business operating system, Digital Operations Director. I am introverted. I am analytical. I am not the person who thrives on putting myself in front of a camera and performing for an audience. But I am in business, and I need leads. So what do you do when you hate conventional marketing? I walk through the approach I am taking — built around Russell Brunson's four pillars of marketing, adapted to how I actually think and work. One quality piece of educational content per week. A lead magnet built around business efficiency metrics. A partnership strategy focused on accountants who work with the exact businesses I want to help. Affiliates built from clients and collaborators over time. No paid ads yet. No performance marketing. Just consistent, methodical relationship building. The lesson, as it so often is on this run, is consistency. I did not cover 20,060km by being remarkable every day. I covered it by showing up every day. Business is no different. How to Handle Anxiety as a Business Owner — Episode 2004

This is episode 2004 of my daily running streak, and today I am talking about something that sits close to home for me and for a lot of the entrepreneurs and business owners who follow this show. Entrepreneurial anxiety. I do not mean the version that gets packaged into motivational content. I mean the real experience of building something, carrying the weight of uncertainty, and trying to function clearly when your mind is running through worst-case scenarios that may never come to pass. In this episode I reflect on a simple but genuinely useful truth: around 90 percent of what we worry about never actually happens. I also walk through the OKI framework I use to examine anxiety — drawing on the darts analogy of the hockey line to separate what sits inside my control from what sits outside it. Your quality of life as an entrepreneur is not determined by the 10 percent you cannot control. It is determined by how you respond to it. 20,040 kilometres covered. 20,035 still to go toward my goal of running the circumference of the Earth. Every step of this streak is in service of raising £1 million for children's causes, including Great Ormond Street Hospital and BBC Children in Need. Consistency over time. That is the whole thing. #entrepreneurialanxiety #businessmindset #streakrunning #barefootrunning #ukrunnerscommunity #runnerslifestyle #ultrarunninglife #runformentalhealth #strava #stravarun #Insta360 #vibramfivefingers

Day 2002 — The One Habit That Fixes a Lack of Quality Time

I am on Day 2002 of my daily running streak. 20,020km logged towards 40,075km — the circumference of the earth — in barefoot-style footwear, raising £1 million for children's causes including Great Ormond Street Hospital and BBC Children in Need. In today's episode I am reflecting on something genuinely simple that I had somehow overlooked for longer than I care to admit. Going for a walk with someone you need to talk to. My oldest son and I used to run together on Sundays. What I noticed in those runs was that the conversations reached a depth they simply did not reach at home. No distractions. No screens. No competing demands. Just two people moving and talking. Recently, during a period of injury recovery that had me walking rather than running, I rediscovered the same thing — this time with my wife. One walk. No agenda. And the quality of connection that followed was far beyond what we manage to find at home in the noise of a busy family life. Consistency is something I think about every single day on this streak. Small, regular actions compounding over time. That principle applies to relationships just as much as it applies to running. A regular walk is not a grand gesture. It is a simple, repeatable habit that builds something real over time. 20,055km still to go. And a walk reminded me why I do this. #qualitytime #walkandtalk #relationshiphabits #streakrunning #ukrunnerscommunity #runnerslifestyle #ultrarunninglife #runformentalhealth #strava #stravarun #Insta360 #vibramfivefingers
