    S7:E4: The Senseless Disappearance of Mitrice Richardson (24) “Released into Darkness”

    Malibu, California —In September 2009, 24-year-old Mitrice Richardson was arrested by the Lost Hills Sheriff's Department after being unable to pay a dinner bill at a high-end Malibu restaurant. Despite family concerns about her mental state, deputies released her alone in the dead of night, without her phone, wallet, or car, into the Santa Monica Mountains. She was never heard from again.  For nearly a year, her family searched, facing dismissive authorities, and unfounded sightings. In August 2010, her skeletal remains were found in Malibu Creek State Park. The discovery deepened the mystery, with authorities widely criticized for mishandling the remains and the investigation. The truth surrounding her death remains clouded by official missteps and lack of transparency. This is not just the story of a disappearance. It’s the story of gross negligence. It’s the story of a system that failed a young woman in crisis.  In this episode, we walk step by step into the last known hours of Mitrice Richardson’s life and the investigation that left this case a total mystery even to this very day.     S7:E3: The Senseless Murder of Sonya Massey (36) "Her Last Words"

    Springfield, IL– On July 6, 2024, 36-year-old Sonya Massey called 911 to report a possible intruder outside her home. Deputies Sean Grayson and another officer responded to the call. After finding no intruder, they entered Sonya’s home.  The situation escalated when Sonya, who had a history of mental health issues, approached her stove to remove a pot of boiling water. Deputy Grayson, fearing she might use it as a weapon, threatened her and ultimately shot her in the head leading to her death.  Even more egregious- The Massey family was not told that Sonya had been killed by a sheriff’s deputy until 24 hours later.     S7:E1: The Senseless Disappearance of Tamika Huston (24) “Vanished in Silence"

    Spartanburg, South Carolina– In May 2004, 24-year-old Tamika Huston vanished from her home without a trace. Tamika was deeply loved by her family and friends and her sudden disappearance shocked those who knew her.  Her case left her family and supporters asking two very important questions: How does a vibrant young woman’s promising life come to such a tragic and unexpected end? ..and who could be responsible for a crime that would haunt Tamika’s family for years to come?  Sadly, those answers would come 15 months after Tamika disappeared.  Tamika Huston’s story served as the inspiration for the founding of The Black & Missing Foundation (BAMFI) an organization created to help elevate the voices of missing persons of color.
