Chris and Betty aren’t kidding: Live Action Sailor Moon really is that good! It’s a treat to hear these two friends experience the magic of Puppet Luna, Shy (Subtextually Sapphic) Ami, Grumpy Rei, Turtle Himbo Motoki, Yass Queen Beryl, Cool Mom Ikuko, and Precious Cinnamon Roll Sawai Miyuu, not to mention the less-than-subtle subliminal messaging of Pop Idol Aino Minako (who might be trying to tell them something; I don’t know; it’s really unclear).
Jokes aside, this is a fun podcast. I’m glad I gave it a chance. I’d dropped off the original Sailor Business toward the end of the show because it seemed like the hosts weren’t enjoying Super S and Stars as much as the earlier seasons. Luckily, that’s not the case here.
Betty and Chris have brought their enthusiasm for Sailor Moon, Tokusatsu, friendship, and fashion to every episode so far. It’s a delight to hear them talk about this delightful and woefully under appreciated piece of pop culture history. Looking forward to hearing them go on this journey together!
