The content is really good and I come back each week for it. I wish they supported chapters, chapter images, and included more detailed show notes.
That said, whoever mixes the audio is doing the podcast a disservice. It sounds sloppy. The volume matching between hosts is nonexistent, there’s a low hum/hiss on someone’s microphone, plosives, echos, and sometimes voices are muffled. There are no transitions or jingles into and out of ads — they’re abrupt, loud, in the middle of sentences/thoughts, and kill the vibe. I usually don’t mind ad reads, but they feel like an afterthought. The most recent episode had an inexplicable 60 second jingle in between ads for no reason… really, what was that? One ad was even split into two segments with a whole other ad inserted in between. Shouldn’t sponsor airchecks or QA catch these?
Because of the quality and quantity of ads, to me, they’re the audio equivalent of those trashy and low-rent AdChoice banners on websites telling me there are singles near me now.
I don’t think anyone crafts these episodes; the raw audio is dumped into GarageBand, ads are slapped haphazardly into to unnatural breaks, someone hits export, and it’s published without review.
