Sand: A Podcast About Dune

If not for the humor between these two hosts, I very well may not have finished God Emperor. The fun and light hearted commentary kept me interested in what I would otherwise call a dull and uneventful six hundred page book. I did appreciate the philosophical quotes/insights by Herbert. But I’m my opinion they didn’t enhance the story which seemed vague. If they make episodes for Heretics I will listen again. I shared a lot of laughs with them.

You found the right podcast for fun Dune puns that are book club worthy. I recently finished all six books in the Dune series— it was my first time reading them and I loved every minute. But I read them alone and now I had to find a way to unpack the story with others, because I was still processing the whole Dune universe. I found the Sand podcast and started with their first chapter and I was hooked. Great puns, fun conversation, and it’s just a really chill way to unwind while I make art. Thanks for making this podcast!

This is one of the few podcasts that will review the books of the Dune series chapter by chapter which is really nice but these two are so dumb. They have a remedial understanding of what’s going on and often times are interpreting things incorrectly. Like basic plot points that are clearly described in the book are misunderstood or not explained well. They also think that they are comedians and make some of the worst jokes/puns that aren’t funny and make the listener cringe especially when they make a joke and then continue to make the same joke and cackle about it for 10 minutes.

Refreshing and entertaining chapter by chapter read through of the first 3 Dune novels (so far). It's nice to have reading companions who are experiencing the narrative for the first time and not overly steeped in Dune lore. Funny while also engaging with the material sincerely.
