I’m sending you these messages because I'm always looking around at friends and strangers, wondering if they know how incredible they are. If they know they're doing a good job. If they know their gifts matter, that they're appreciated, and that the world is better because they're in it. And I wonder if life would feel less heavy if they did. Walking up to strangers and saying those things would be a little awkward, so I'm leaving them here instead. If you’re reading this then these messages are meant for YOU.

    Today is hard

    Hey, today feels hard. Sometimes I can't remember why anything I do matters. I feel a bit lost in the fog. I know I will get through it and the sun will come out again, but if you could just send some love and good energy my way, it would mean a lot. Okay. That's all.     Taoist farmer

    Do you remember the story of the Taoist farmer? It's the one where the farmer's horse runs away and the neighbors come over and are like, "aw, we are so sorry that's terrible" and he's like . . . "maybe". Then the horse comes back with an entire herd of wild horses and this time the neighbors congratulate him and tell him how fortunate he is-- and he's like, "Maybe". Then his son breaks his leg trying to tame one of the wild houses and the neighbors are once again telling the farmer how sorry they are for his misfortune and the farmer again says "Maybe". The following day the army comes through the town to gather all eligible men to be taken to the battle field. . . I just wanted to remind you life is always unfolding. Just because your fear wants to convince you that worst is coming, doesn't mean you have to believe it. Stay curious my friend. I can't help but believe there are some unexpected beautiful things waiting for you. Okay. That's all.     You're not alone

    Celebrate

    Hey, I am celebrating today. I know we can't celebrate together in person but will you please find something in your life to celebrate and celebrate with me? It doesn't have to anythng big. it can be as big as doing thing you didn't think you could do or as small as just getting through another day. Okay. That's all.     Getting through

    You're doing it. You're getting through all the hard parts even when it's excruciating. Even when you have to limp. Even when it's all piling up and nothing is fair. I wish I was there to hug you in person and take some of the weight off your shoulders. I know how heavy it is. I wish you didn't have to be so strong. Okay. That's all.     Don't forget that you get to be human. No one is perfect. No one gets it right all of the time. No one makes it through life without feeling a bit embarrassed, a bit awkward or a bit self conscious. Your humanity is the best part about you. Okay. That's all.
