  4. EPISODE 8

    SPOTLIGHT on Michela

text us if... In this month's Spotlight episode, we chat with Michela, who shares with us what it is like to be the mother of child with a rare disease. Most of us have probably never even heard of Hirschsprung's (HIRSH-sproongz) disease, which is a condition that affects the large intestine (colon) and causes problems with passing stool. The condition is present at birth (congenital) as a result of missing nerve cells in the muscles of the baby's colon. Without these nerve cells stimulating gut muscles to help move contents through the colon, the contents can back up and cause blockages in the bowel, and can be fatal if undetected. Michela's story is so powerful and inspiring and we are very grateful that she took the time to share with us all. If you'd like to send Michela a message, you may reach out to us and we can pass it on. please visit https://www.patreon.com/Sasspod/redeem/1785B to get a free 3 month membership!
