Big change and new experiences, ideas, philosophies are common when the planet Saturn returns to the same celestial location it occupied at our birth. These can be times of great struggle and obstacles, new challenges and responsibilities that often mark time as a clear “before” and “after.” Host Regina Beach turned 30, quit her job and is heading to Laos to live and work.     Episode 25: 50 years later Kent State remembers ‘4 dead in Ohio’

    It was a time of political unrest on a campus that held rallies to protest the Vietnam War. Paul was lucky his draft number was in the 100s, but some of their friends with lower numbers dodged by heading into Canada. Gerri lost a dear friend on May 4 and knew others who were killed in combat. The violence at Kent State started when National Guardsmen ordered the protesters to disperse, escalated with tear gas that was retaliated with students allegedly throwing rocks (Gerri didn’t see any) and concluded with over 60 rounds of ammunition being fired at the students. In 2016 the 17-acre Commons was designated a National Historic Landmark, but Gerri has revised the site of the May 4 Massacre every year.

    Episode 22 Little Sis Graduates College

    Marah and I both went to Ohio University North Olmsted has a new middle school and high school. Julie White is a professor at Ohio University who advised Marah’s project on Home and taught her in Umarkhed, India. Bhumi is Marah's mentor and yoga teacher. In case you were still wondering how glitter was invented Ruth Bader Ginsberg is arguable the most bad-ass Supreme Court Justice our country has ever seen.     Episode 20 Improv Comedy and Educational Equity

    Harry Potter and The Golden Compass trilogy are some of Kate’s favorite books. She also loves Stephen King’s novels. Should Adults be embarrassed to read young adult fiction? Brad Pitt’s Make it Right foundation built houses in the 9th ward post-Katrina. The Second City is Chicago’s premier place to see and study improv comedy The iO Theater runs comedy classes and shows in Chicago The next Fear Experiment show will be March 18th in Chicago. Check it out if you’re around, you won’t be disappointed. Teach for America is an organization tacking educational equity and through it Kate and I both got out start in teaching.

    Craig and I visit Krka National Park, the Sibinek Falconry Center and visit Dubrovnik. We end the trip with a flight through Germany, a bus through Bosnia and a return day in Milan.

    Episode 18 Gina and Craig Cycle Croatia

    On the third installment of my month-long cycle journey Craig and I set up camp on the edge of a minefield and on another night have a private observation tower. We visit Zadar and listen to the sea sing and investigate an abandoned hotel on Krk Island. Elderflower radler is my favorite Croatian beverage. Cres Island is famous for it’s sheep, that lounge in the the olive groves. We set up camp on the tennis court of an abandoned hotel on Krk Island. We drank coffee in an observation tower outside of Pula.
