Necromancy, Poetry, and the Preservation of Emotions

Necromancy, Poetry, and the Preservation of Emotions

On this week’s episode we have guest Cooper of the Witchhassle podcast here to discuss the link between poetry and necromancy. We get into a bunch of other cool topics like language use, the intersection between the liminal, madness, and melancholy, as well as a bit of left politics on how one might create mutual aid through poetry. Is poetry ruled by the Moon, Mercury, Saturn, or maybe all three? This episode was a complete delight and filled with much laughter on both sides. I hope you all find it as interesting as I did, and feel free to message me with any poems or stories of necromantic workings that included poetry so we can chat about it!

Learning to Live in the Moment - The Life of Emmett Dwyer and the Process Church

This week we have a special episode for our listeners. Instead of focusing on some sort of philosophical topic, I want to tell you the story of my friend. Emmett Dwyer, fka Brother Mark, hammer of God and former member of the Process Church of the Final Judgment. Join us as we discuss some of the practices and theology behind the Process Church, and learn the wisdom of living in the moment to honor our authentic self.  What is a gray force? How is Aikido similar to the tenets of the Process Church, and why is it so important for magic practitioners to stay grounded? All this and more in this week’s episode of Saturnvox! So tune in, relax, and listen to the story our elder weaves. It’s a good one, I promise.

Moses of the Holy Mountain Temple joins us this week to help explore what it means to reconcile our past with our future, how to move past monotheistic trauma to embrace the wisdom of our ancestors, as well as how intertwined magic is with religion, and we do it all through the lens of Jewish Mysticism! Stoic Astrology

    Stoic Astrology

Dalanah of the Moon Matters podcast joins us this week to help explore what it means to be a stoic, how stoicism fits into astrology, and why allowing ourselves to view fate with a sense of awe may actually be the key to setting ourselves free. We know that taking on the hat of determinism can seem scary, especially to magicians who want to reshape the world according to their Will. I think this is a very fine aspiration, but as you listen to this episode I want magicians most of all to keep this quote by Arthur Schopenhauer in the back of your head; “A man can do as he wills, but not Will as he wills”.

To find more on Dalanah, check out her instagram @moonmatters.astro and her website www.moonmattersastrology.com, where you can listen to her absolutely outstanding podcast on Hellenistic Astrology as well as her book suggestions for people interested in learning more about stoicism.

    Magic as Queer Liberation

    Magic as Queer Liberation

Guest Austin of BanexBramble joins us this week to talk about plant spirits, earth based ritual, and dance as centered roles of his magic practice. In our exploration we touch on my favorite definition of witchcraft, that of Queer Liberation.  How can witchcraft be used as an embodied experience to bridge the gap between being Othered and Free? How can we explore the lines of madness in order to embody the other more fully? In what ways do song and dance allow us to more deeply connect with spirit? All these questions are explored, and we even found some time to talk about magic ritual and othering in the classic horror film Susperia. So join us as we move about the chthonic and wild spaces of the Other lands, and how they can be explored to liberate and exalt both the self and all lands here and in between.
