The repetition…
Mar 25
… is 100% necessary. I actually laughed reading the reviews complaining that it was too long or too repetitive because there’s no way to tell the story without explaining how many times Amanda did this and got away with it. I think people leaving reviews complaining that it was repetitive or too long must be from people with Attention Deficit Disorder. I’m not making a joke at all—I’m just trying to think what the explanation could be for that specific complaint. This is real journalism and incredibly done. Charlie is an international treasure and must be protected at all costs. I truly cannot wait to see what she does next. FANTASTIC
Scamanda drags it out just like Amanda
Jun 1
I’ve been listening in earnest to this mystery that never really wants to get to the meat and bones. I’m ending the show and feel like I’ve been drug along the way Amanda did. Very repetitive but not really explanatory. The host continues to talk as if Amanda actually had cancer, but then it sounds like a scam and is even titled in this way. Information seems to go back and forth on whether or not Nancy was actually harassing the family. Also a ridiculous amount of ads contributing to the dragging out.
Ahh the ads
May 28
The storytelling is very compelling and interesting, but oh my gosh there are so many ads! They completely interrupt the flow of the story and go on for freakin’ ever. I would have enjoyed the pod much more if the adds were more thoughtfully placed. It’s borderline unlistenable with the number and timing as is.
Listening to Ads Interrupted by a Great Story
May 25
I really enjoy the format and storytelling choices behind this podcast but the number of ads make it nearly unlistenable, so much so that this is the first ever review I’ve written because of overwhelming frustration. I’ve listened to hundreds of podcasts and these 8 main Scamanda episodes could have easily been 5 or 6 with a more standard-to-high amount of ads. It just makes me feel kind of icky how much $$ they’re trying to milk out of this, even though it is a compelling story— hopefully some of the proceeds go to a good cause.
